Pitt is looking to close the season above .500. Things have not got the way they had hoped.
I am not sure what the realistic expectations were for Georgia Tech. At times they have looked OK.
There is nothing at stake in this one. The coaching might be hardest thing to handicap here, not the talent.
Pitt Panthers
Pitt hasn’t played in a couple of weeks. The last time we saw them they got roughed up by Clemson in a predictable fashion.
This has been a very streak team this season. Prior to Clemson, they had won three in a row, then lost four, then won a couple. Following those trends, another loss seems likely.
Pitt wanted to have a more dynamic pass offense this season and it worked. Kenny Pickett has proven he can wing it a little. Meanwhile, the running game has fallen off the map, they are 120t in rushing this season.
This newfound combination on offense has not led to increased success in terms of wins and losses. It will be interesting to see how coach Pat Narduzzi and the program evaluate.
Pitt could really use a win to close the season. Otherwise, Narduzzi could be under some heat.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
It has been a long season for GT. Beating Florida State to start showed promise but since then their competitiveness has been difficult to predict.
QB Jeff Sims has had a nice baseline season. You can see that all the physical tools are there but the decision making not quite. I am not sure the plan was for him to lead in rushing too.
The defense has been awful this season. They got trounced by Clemson and that would have goosed up the stats (73 points allowed) but still. They should be able to get the athletes they need to compete on that side of the ball. You can’t blame that on the previous regime.
Georgia Tech could use a win to try and change the narrative heading into the offseason. Some positivity would be nice.

Free Week 15 NCAA Football Pick
I am leaning to Pittsburgh here, even though they are going to be far from home for this meaningless tilt. They just have more experience where it matters most.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Pitt -6.5
I know the Panthers have broken my heart a couple of times this season. As a small favourite I like that passing game to be able to build a lead. Then the defense can do enough to contain it.
This is the last game action for the Yellow Jackets so they might want to push themselves a little. Their execution is not usually great though.
