The Penn State Nittany Lions will be taking on the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Outback Bowl on January 1st. The kickoff is set for 12:00 ET from Raymond James Stadium.
Penn State ended their regular season with a loss, while Arkansas ended theirs with a win.
The Nittany Lions opened up as a 4.5 point favorite and that number is now down to 2. The total has gone from 45 to 47.
Penn State Nittany Lions
When all is said and done, I think that Penn State can look back on its season and feel a sense of disappointment. Sure, they were a good team, but they still fell short of their ultimate goal, which is to win the whole thing. Over the past few years, they get to point, but they always seem to peak.
The Nittany Lions last played on November 27th, where they lost to the Michigan State Spartans by a score of 30-27. This was a game they could have won, but Sparty did just enough to secure the victory. If they were able to knock them off, it would have been a signature win for this program.
I was impressed with the way that Sean Clifford played in the loss to Michigan State. He finished the day 23/34 for 313 yards with 3 touchdown passes. Overall, he had a solid season for the Nittany Lions.
Keyvone Lee was the leading rusher in their last game with 15 carries for 79 yards. The leading receiver was Jahan Dotson, who had 8 receptions for 137 yards.
For the most part, I was impressed with the way this defense played this year. Sure, they did give up a lot of points to Michigan State, but it is no easy task to shut them down. This unit will be in for a big challenge when they try and slow down a good offense in Arkansas.
Arkansas showed this year that they are a legitimate team out of the SEC. I know teams like Alabama and Georgia will get a lot of the attention, but this team should get some as well.
The Razorbacks ended their regular season by beating the Missouri Tigers by a score of 34-17. Even though the Tigers are not great, it always feels good for a program to win those rivalry games.
In the win over Missouri, KJ Jefferson was 15/19 for 262 yards with 1 touchdown pass. I was impressed with the way he played this year. It is a good sign for a team like Arkansas to have a solid quarterback.
Jefferson happened to be the leading rusher in their last game with 6 carries for 58 yards. As far as the receivers go, Treylon Burks had another monster day. He finished the game with 7 receptions for 129 yards.
The defense for this team has gotten criticized a lot in past years, but I thought they were much better in that department this year. Holding a team like Missouri to that few points is very impressive, as their offense is the biggest strength of their program. When it comes to stopping Penn State, they will have their hands full, but I feel like this group is up for it.

This bowl game may not be getting a ton of talk and attention, but I think it is a fascinating one. I feel that is the chance to be a very good one.
I like Arkansas at +2 here.
4* 2022 Outback Bowl NCAA Betting Pick:
What a way to start your New Year’s Day. This should be a fun one, folks.
To me, these teams are very comparable, so I am expecting to see a pretty close game. I would be shocked if this thing turned out to be a blowout by either side.
Obviously, a big question that comes to mind with these two teams is which players are not going to play? If you like the Razorbacks getting points you might want to hop on that before the line goes the other way. Even though it is not a huge number to lay, I just do not trust laying the points with Penn State here because I am really not sold on them winning the game in the first place.
Give me the Razorbacks catching 2 points in Tampa.
