In the first top-10 battle of the year, Oregon travels to Michigan State to face off against the Spartans in a matchup that will hold a vengeance aspect for the home squad. The Spartans fell to the Ducks at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore. last year thanks to an awful third quarter, but this time, there’s no Marcus Mariota to lead the way, giving Michigan State the edge early in this contest.
Kickoff is set for 8:00 PM EST, and this contest in the focus on ESPN’s College Gameday.
The Oregon Ducks’ offense looked excellent last week. The catch, of course, is that they were up against the FCS Eastern Washington Eagles, and those same Eagles were without quarterback Vernon Adams, Jr. — the same quarterback who led Oregon in that victory.
The catch here is that Oregon’s defense struggled the entire way. More specifically, the secondary — and a young secondary at that — struggled to contain Eastern Washington’s wide receivers.
The good news here is that Eastern Washington has one of the best wide receivers in the country not playing for an FBS program. The bad news is that the team is about to face a more well-rounded group in Week 2 against the Michigan State Spartans.
Michigan State started the 2015 NCAA Football season with a 37-24 win against Western Michigan. The team grabbed a 20-point lead early, and it led by 24 after three quarters.
This is why the score looks closer than it should, and this is why the team failed to cover the spread when it was all said and done.
The Spartans wont he rushing game against the Broncos 196 to 18, and quite frankly, the squad would have covered the spread if it hadn’t given up a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown — or if it hadn’t been stopped on the Broncos’ four-yard line in the middle of the final period.
Michigan State returned 14 starters from the team that played Oregon on the road last year, which is one reason this team will be ready for a battle against another top-10 team. Revenge is the theme in this one, and we should expect that to remain the same both early and often with Mariota gone and home-field advantage in their favor.

Free Week 2 NCAA Football Prediction
Revenge, revenge, revenge. That’s what this game is all about.
Combine that with the fact that Vernon Adams, Jr. might be a bit shaky following the big hit he took late in Week 1, and Michigan State should have a solid contest and remain a title contender early in this season.
