HISTORY: Stanford and Oregon State have one of the older rivalries in the Pac-12 going, dating back to 1919. Stanford leads the all-time series 56-29-3, after winning ten of the last eleven meetings.
Oregon State Beavers
Oregon State has jumped out to a 3-0 start, that includes three quality non-conference wins over Boise, Fresno, and Montana State. Tre’shaun Harrison has grown in Nolan’s favorite target early, leading the team in receptions (24) and yards (337). Sophomore wideout Anthony Gould has add 17 catches for 307 yards, whileLuke Musgrave’s, who is one of the best tight ends in the Pac 12, absence has been glaring.
Stanford Cardinal
An early start to Pac-12 play has given Stanford a bit of trouble. After roughing Colgate up in their opener, the Cardinal have picked up three conference losses swiftly. They were overmatched by USC in Week 3, and after their bye, they couldn’t keep up with Washington. Last weekend, the Cardinal took a trip to Zoo, and it got dark again for them.
In Week 5, Stanford lost to Oregon in Eugene, failing to make use of the 17-point underdog spread.
Stanford has scored 29.5 points per game, 34.2 ppg.
A return to the palm trees should do Tanner McKee some justice. The junior quarterback was solid in ten starts last season, and 2022 has kind of hit him fast. Hosting SC, then traveling to Seattle and the Zoo is tough way to start conference play, so this home matchup against a fellow reeling team is just what he needs.
McKee has thrown for 980 passing yards with eight touchdowns to four interceptions.
E.J. Smith flashed a glimpse of both his father and his own potential in the opener against Colgate, going for 118 rushing yards and two scores, but he’s missed the last two games. Casey Filkins has stepped in and capitalized, and he now leads the team with 277 rushing yards.
Fifth-year senior Michael Wilson leads the team in receiving a pair of two-score outings and a career performance against Washington. Wilson leads the team in receptions (15), receiving yards (302) and touchdowns (4).
