The Pac-12 started their short season last week as the West coast was eager to join the rest of the nation on the field for college football.
Both the Ducks and the Cougars started off with a win and now will face each other in a rainy cold matchup in Pullman Washington on Saturday night.
Washington State Cougars
Both teams will showcase freshman signal collars in this showdown as the Washington State Cougars start true freshman Jayden de Laura. Jayden earned Pac-12 offensive player of the week for his efforts in his first game as a college qb. V.S. Oregon State last week, de Laura threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns as well as running for 43 yards and another score on the ground.
The balanced freshman looked good in the Cougars 38-28 road win against the Beavers, his talented receiving core was led by Travis Harrel who had over 100 yards and both of de Laura’s passing TD’s.
There was some accuracy concerns for the freshman as he completed just over 50% of his attempts against a Beavers secondary that was nothing in compared to the no-fly zone the Oregon Ducks have tried to manifest during the offseason.
For the Cougars to have success against the Ducks on Saturday they will have to find ways to move the chains on the ground as well as through the air. The starting running back for the Cougars was sidelined in their first game against Oregon State with an undisclosed injury and if he is able to start against the Ducks that could go a long way in making this a competitive football game.
Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks picked up where they left off last season with a dominant win over Stanford. Replacing Justin Herbert was no small task but new starting qb Tyler Shough looked good as he also threw for 227 but with only one score. He also looked confident running the ball as he was able to make big plays with his feet that kept the offense out on the field and the pressure on Stanford’s D.
CJ Verdell also looked great for the Ducks as he scampered for over a 100 yards and a score as Travis Dye also looked potent in the Oregon backfield running for 74 yards and 6 as he balanced out an explosive offense for the Ducks.
Oregon seems to be the Pac-12’S only shot at a legitimate playoff team and while the Duck’s might fall short of that hope again this year, probably due to reduced schedule and lack of opportunities more than anything, they will look to dominate in their respective league and while this has been a weird season to say the least Oregon Ducks head coach Mario Cristobal has done everything in his power to keep this team focused, week in and week out.

Free Week 11 NCAA Football Pick
The Oregon Ducks will look to come into Pullman and get after the Cougars early and often. For WSU to have a chance their true freshman qb will have to have virtually no mistakes while improving on his completion percentage from last week. As the Ducks potent offense is surely going to do its thing, I think this defense (one of the best in the PAC-12) will use different pressures and disguises to get to Jayden and create turnovers. Look for the Oregon Ducks to dominate this one from start to finish and not only beat the cougars but cover the spread as well.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Oregon -10.5
If all goes as planned Oregon will cover and the total will go over. I expect WSU to have some early success in the air but after some quick adjustments and a couple turnovers Oregon will extend their lead of the game and continue to pour it on offensively.
