The Oregon Ducks will be taking on the Utah Utes in the Pac-12 championship game on Friday, December 3rd. The kickoff is set for 8:00 ET from Allegiant Stadium.
Both of these teams ended their regular seasons with victories. It seems fitting that they will square off again, this time for the conference crown.
The Utes started off as a 3 point favorite and that number is now down to 2.5. The total has gone from 60.5 to 58.
Oregon Ducks
Overall, Oregon had a solid regular season. To me, they were not in the category of the elite, but I still consider them a very good and dangerous team.
The Ducks beat the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday by a score of 38-29. It was by no means an easy win, but they did just what they had to in order to get the victory.
In the win over Beavers, Anthony Brown was 23/28 for 275 yards with 2 touchdown passes. He will have his hands full when he has to go against this tough defense in Utah.
Travis Dye had a big day running the ball in the win last week. He finished the day with 20 carries for 99 yards and 2 touchdowns. The leading receiver was Devon Williams, who had 6 receptions for 110 yards.
The defense has been up-and-down for these guys so far this year. Even though they won the game, the unit did not look all that great in the game against Oregon State. They definitely will be challenged when they face a good offense in the Utes.
Utah Utes
I was happy with the way the Utes played this year. This was a team that did not get a ton of buzz before the year started, but they definitely generated some chatter as the year went on.
The Utes ended their regular season on Saturday by beating the Colorado Buffaloes by a score of 28-13. The game was certainly closer than some thought it should have been, but at the end of the day, they got the victory, which is the most important thing.
Cameron Rising was 14/23 for 179 yards with 3 touchdown passes and 1 pick. I feel that he can have a good day when he goes against the Ducks, but things will certainly not be easy for him against a capable defense.
Tavion Thomas had a monster day running the ball in the win over the Buffaloes. He finished the day with 25 carries for 142 yards and 1 touchdown run. TJ Pledger also added 13 carries for 103 yards. If they can run the ball like this when they face Oregon, it could be a long day for the Ducks.
I have been impressed with the way that this defense has played as of late. Yes, they did keep the Ducks in check the last time they squared off, but I am not sold on that happening again when they face off in Las Vegas.
