The Oregon Ducks will travel to Boulder and take on the Colorado Buffaloes from Folsom Field this Saturday afternoon on ESPN. Oregon will open as the 31-point favorites here on the road, with the total opening at 60.5.
HISTORY: These two states faced off sporadically before becoming Pac-12 rivals back in 2012. Oregon leads the all-time series 14-9, after winning seven of the eight meetings since Colorado joined the conference.
Oregon Ducks
Oregon hasn’t let a Week 1 one beatdown from Georgia alter the direction of their season. The Ducks have ripped off six straight wins, defeating Cougars BYU and Washington State, before taking care of Stanford on the first of October, and crushing Arizona in Tucson prior to their. Oregon then defeated UCLA in Week 8, spoiling any potential happy reunion for Chip Kelly’s undefeated team. Last time out, the Ducks brought Halloween to Cal early.
In Week 9, Oregon defeated California, 42-24, dropping to 5-2 against the spread this season.
Oregon scored 42.4 points per game, while allowing 28.1 ppg.
It also feels like Bo Nix has been around forever, and that exact experience came through big time when they hosted . With all of the buzz surrounding Chip Kelly returning with an undefeated team, Nix went out and tossed five touchdowns en route to leading a blowout of UCLA, nixing any happy reunion along the way.
Nix has thrown for 2,221 passing yards, with 20 touchdowns to four interceptions, while adding 382 yards on the ground and eight scores through seven games.
Bucky Irving has come in and eased the loss of Travis Dye to USC. The Minnesota transfer has been steady, and he rushed for a season-high 107 yards in the win over the Bruins. Irving leads UO with 568 rushing yards, while Noah Whittington has complimented him with 475 yards on 74 carries.
Troy Franklin has been Nix’s go-to guy this season. Franklin went for a season-high in the win over Wazzu, and he nearly matched that effort last weekend, with a 132-yard, two-touchdown performance versus UCLA. Franklin now leads the Ducks in receptions (38), receiving yards (595), and touchdown catches (5). UCLA transfer Chase Cota has come over and done his best Jeff Maehl impression, and he’s second on the team with 24 catches for 319 yards.
Colorado Buffaloes
Colorado has struggled out of the gate and there’s been little side of improvement. Non-conference losses to TCU, Minnesota, and in-state foe Air Force docked them at a 0-3 record early, and it’s continued into Pac-12 play. Karl Dorrell was relieved of his duties, after a lost to his former school UCLA in their conference opener. A trip to Tucson did not end well, as another blowout was by Arizona, but the Buffs finally jumped into the win column when hosted and defeated Cal in overtime.
In Week 9, Colorado lost to Arizona State, 42-34, dropping to 0-5 ATS this season.
Colorado is scoring 13.4 points per game, while allowing 43.2 ppg.
An injury to Owen McCown has thrusted J.T, Shrout back into the starting lineup. The Tennessee transfer guided the Buffs to their first victory of the season in the OT win over Cal, and he kept them in the mix at home last weekend versus ASU. Shrout has passed for 729 yards with five touchdowns to four interceptions on the season.
Alex Fontenot’s absence has been felt in the backfield, and Deion Smith hasn’t had much room or opportunity to run. On a positive note, the junior running back did return to the lineup last weekend and post a career-high 111 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown run. Smith leads CU with 354 yards rushing.
Fifth-year senior Daniel Arias leads the team with 19 catches receptions, while true freshman Jordyn Tyson has brought some life to the position, gaining 207 yards over the past two games

Free Week 10 NCAA Football Final Analysis:
This could end up being one of those games you look down at the score and say ‘why didn’t I take the blowout’.
Oregon has been extremely sharp since taking a beating from Georgia, and while this margin may be a bit steep, they are that much better of a football team then Colorado. The Buffaloes have shown signs of life since a coaching change at the top, but the Ducks represent a different animal, physically and literally.
Look for a big win from Oregon here and take their spread, and if the massive margin feels too long, take the over as points should be a premium from the Ducks side.
