The Pac-12 Championship is going down on Friday night, but not with the teams you thought would be here. After a bunch of positive tests at Washington, the Huskies paused their program and withdrew themselves from the game. The Oregon Ducks will be taking Washington’s place in the game and get a chance to face the undefeated Trojans for the Pac-12 bragging rights.
Oregon Ducks
After losing their final two games to end the season the Oregon Ducks will try to salvage an odd year by capturing the 2020 Pac-12 Championship. This was a game they weren’t even supposed to be in, but with Washington having to withdraw by not meeting the requirements the Ducks have a shot at redemption.
Tyler Shough has done a pretty nice job trying to replace Justin Herbert this season for Mario Cristobal. He is 91 of 143 passing for 1,389 yards with 11 touchdowns and four interceptions while ranking third on the team with 256 yards plus two scores on the ground. Shough is second in the conference behind Kedon Slovis (USC’s QB) for passing yards
The Ducks enter this contest ranked 26th in the nation in passing offense with an average of 277.8 yards per contest through the air. Oregon is 42nd in the country in rushing offense as they put up 189.2 yards per game on the ground. The Ducks are 27th among the 127 FBS teams that have played in scoring offense with an average of 34.2 points per contest this season.
Defensively, Oregon is ranked 59th in scoring defense as they allow an average of 28 points per game. They give up 235.6 passing yards per game and 184.2 rushing yards.
USC Trojans
The Trojans pulled out a miracle win against UCLA their last time out to keep their hopes alive of a shot at the Pac-12 championship. Clay Helton and company will be seeking to capture their first Pac-12 title since 2017 when Sam Darnold was their QB.
Kedon Slovis is going to be a coveted asset next season for NFL scouts. Slovis has the potential to be the #1 pick next season after tearing up Pac-12 for the last two years. Kedon Slovis has completed 149 of 212 passes for 1,601 yards to go with 15 touchdowns and four interceptions. He leads the conference in passing yards and touchdowns this season.
The Trojans are 13th in the nation in passing offense with 319.2 yards per game while they rank 114th in rushing by averaging 109.2 yards per contest. USC has the 23rd best scoring offense in the FBS with 35.2 points per game.
USC will be without their top running-back Vavae Malepeai in this game as suffered a back injury against the Bruins. Malepeai leads the team with 238 yards rushing and three touchdowns on the ground to lead the team. That will be a huge blow to the running game that has barely played a factor all season for the Trojans.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Trojans are surrendering 25.0 points per game which is good for 41st in the country. They give up 238.0 passing yards per game and 157.0 rushing yards.

I like Oregon and the points in this game. Even though the Ducks have been trending down over the last three weeks, I think they possess the firepower to be able to out muscle this USC offense that has been on fire. The Trojans have a ton of injuries on both sides of the ball coming into this week and I don’t think they will have the personal to get by this Oregon team. Last year when these two teams met Oregon beat the Trojans 56-24, and the Oregon team isn’t much different from last season except the QB. Give me the Ducks to upset the Trojans and get the win in the Pac-12 title game.
