Georgia Tech’s playoff chances took a hit after a lose in South Bend and their chances of winning the ACC took a hit when they lost to Duke. Georgia Tech looks to regroup at home versus North Carolina.

North Carolina
North Carolina’s offense has been humming since a disappointing opening loss to South Carolina. The Tar Heels are 25th in total yards, 36th in passing yards, 35th in rushing yards, and 26th in points scored.
However, that hasn’t stopped fans from grumbling a little bit about how senior quarterback Marquise Williams has performed. Williams is completing 65% of his passes and has 8 total touchdowns, but he has thrown 4 interceptions.
Three of those interceptions came against South Carolina and two of them came in the red zone which cost the Tar Heels the game. With how poorly the Gamecocks have performed that loss probably stings just a little bit more.

Williams will need to limit the mistakes and if he does, North Carolina should cover and perhaps even win straight up. Offensively, they are fine and should be able to keep up with Georgia Tech.
Defensively they aren’t as bad as they once were. They have made strides and have only given up 14.8 points per game. The two notable games coming against South Carolina and Illinois where they gave up 17 and 14 points respectively.
They rank 3rd in passing defense, but UNC is 115th in rushing defense.
Obviously, their passing defense will improve after this week, but their rushing defense will still be extremely poor. Look for Georgia Tech to run all over the Tar Heels and score their fair share of points.
Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech got two feel good wins to start the season and everybody went crazy over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
This was finally going to be the year Georgia Tech puts it all together and make a run for the College Football playoff…and then Notre Dame happened.
Notre Dame’s defense shut down the Yellow Jacket’s option rushing attack and Georgia Tech only scored 22 points. And two of those touchdowns were in garbage time when the result was already in hand.

Notre Dame did a good job, but the Duke Blue Devils did an even better job. Duke really shut down Georgia Tech to the tune of 2.9 yards per carry and they only scored 20 points.
On the flip side, Georgia Tech’s defense hasn’t been that bad. They have held their own they have given up an average of 32 points to Duke and Notre Dame which isn’t too bad considering that their defense has been under a lot of duress.
With all that said, I’m looking for the Yellow Jackets to get back on track offensively. I do believe Georgia Tech will be able to control the ball and run effectively against the Tar Heels.
However, will they score enough to cover a 12.5 point spread? Probably not.

Free Week 5 NCAA Football Prediction
I have North Carolina covering the +12.5 point spread. This is a game that is very winnable for both teams and this should be a close game that comes down to the wire. I don’t have a great feel on who wins straight up, but I do know that UNC will keep it close and that is all that matters.
