The NIU Huskies travel to Kalamazoo Michigan this Saturday for a game against the Western Michigan Broncos who will look to continue their undefeated season on home soil.
The Broncos do look primed to do just that, at least with the bookmakers, as they are instilled as a 20 point favorite here and it remains to be seen just how motivated the Broncos will be to blow-out their MAC counterparts.
NIU Huskies
The Northern Illinois Huskies were dominated on the ground last week, as their front 7 was not able to stand up and stop the Ball State running backs from amassing over 200 rushing yards as a team. That does not really bode well for the NIU Huskies in this one as the Western Michigan Broncos can absolutely pound the ball and win at the line of scrimmage with their offensive line.
In order for the Huskies to keep this one within 20 points I think QB Ross Bowers will have to have a solid and turnover free game. Bowers does have the ability, but has not shown the consistency, so it remains to be seen whether or not he can lead his Ball State side to a cover or a massive upset on Saturday.
Western Michigan Broncos
The Western Michigan Broncos have a bevy of offensive talent, as they can hit you basically everywhere and it all starts with QB Kaleb Eleby. Eleby has been outstanding this year throwing for almost 1000 yards on the season and a very nice 11-1 TD to INT ratio.
He should once again have no problem moving the ball against Ball State who is not exactly known for their defense. Look for Eleby to target D’Wayne Eskridge and Jaylen Hall who combined for over 300 yards and 5 TD’s in that last game against Ball State.
It would also be important to mention running back La’Darius Jefferson with the Broncos being a 20 point favorite here, as he got over 30 touches in that last game and he used those touches to great effect rushing for 150 yards in his breakout performance of the season.
