The Fresno State Bulldogs will look to rebound when they host the New Mexico Lobos this weekend. Both teams enter on the heels of home losses, with the hosts nearly falling out of the Top 25.
Fresno is favored by 25 points at home here.
New Mexico Lobos
After blessing bettors with a huge +800 victory on the road in Wyoming, they doubled down by losing as home favorites to UNLV last weekend. It’s been dismal after a 2-0 start this season for the Lobos.
Terry Wilson’s injury has really set New Mexico back at the quarterback position. They haven’t scored more than 17 points during his four-game absence, and nor Isaiah Chavez or CJ Montes have proved capable of thriving on the road against a team like Fresno.
Aaron Dumas and Bobby Cole have done a decent job splitting the touches this season. Dumas has gained 65 or more yards in three of their last four games, and he leads the team with 479 yards rushing, while Cole has gained 357 yards on 84 carries.
Fresno State Bulldogs
Fresno State has enjoyed a pretty strong season, despite last weekend’s home loss to Boise State. Turnovers really killed the Bulldogs chances at jumping to the top of the Mountain West Conference, but this weekend presents a chance to get back on track.
Jake Haener led Fresno to their first Top 25 appearance since Derek Carr was behind center, but he struggled against Boise last weekend. The senior quarterback went 22-38 for 279 yards with two touchdowns to three costly interceptions.
Haener’s much better than that, and he should rebound here at home. He’s thrown for 3,167 passing yards with 25 touchdowns to nine interceptions this season.
Ronnie Rivers and Jordan Mims have provided Fresno’s pass-heavy attack with some stability in the backfield. Mims had a career-best 186 yards and two touchdowns against SDSU, while Rivers leads the team with 654 rushing yards. Both backs have scored four times.
Fresno touts a talented group of pass catchers led by Jalen Cropper. The junior wideout leads the team with 64 catches for 710 receiving yards, while catching a Mountain West-leading 10 touchdowns. Josh Kelly and Keric Wheatfall join him on the outside, with the former being second on the team in catches (42) and yards (666).
Free Week 11 NCAA Football Pick
Fresno State needs to bounce back here, and we’re 100% sure they do so with a victory and cover.
4* Free Week 11 NCAA Betting Pick:
Fresno State has been potent enough to trust them to cover the lofty margin here at home. New Mexico has struggled offensively, and with starting QB Terry Wilson still on the shelf, they likely won’t be scoring many points this weekend. Haener’s a really good college quarterback, and they rarely fault in these manageable spots.
Take Fresno’s spread at home this weekend.
