The Nevada Wolf Pack will travel to Honolulu and take on the Hawaii Warriors from Clarence T.C. Ching Complex this Saturday night. Nevada comes in as the 6-point road favorites, with the total opening at 51.

Nevada jumped out to a fast start in 2022 with wins over New Mexico State and Texas State. The Wolf Pack kicked a whopping five field goals in the win over the Bobcats, and they held both teams to 28 points combined. After beginning 2-0, FCS-power Incarnate Word came through in last Saturday and gave the Pack a run for their money.
In Week 6, Nevada lost to Colorado State, 17-14, dropping to 2-4 against the spread this season.
Nevada scores 22.7 points per game, while allowing 28.8 ppg.
Nevada has rotated quarterbacks in efforts to find Carson Strong’s replacement and Nate Cox might just be the guy. Cox was impressive in his first full start, throwing for 746 yards and two touchdowns, while adding another score on the ground against Incarnate Word.
Toa Taua might be the best offensive player on either side in this one. The fifth-year back surpassed the 3,000-yard mark for his career last weekend, and he’s rushed for 100+ yards in two of the first three games.
Taua is up to 430 rushing yards with seven touchdowns, and eight catches for 81 yards and another score on the season. Fellow fifth-year senior Devonte Lee has rushed for 140 yards and scored in each game this season.
Jamaal Bell leads the team in catches (23) and receiving yards (234).
Hawaii Warriors
There’s a reason why a 2-3 team is favored to win a conference matchup by so much. It’s been rough for Hawaii early, and it’s showing no sign of stopping. The Warriors have dropped all four of their games to FBS competition, with their lone win coming over FCS school Duquense.
In Week 6, Hawaii loss to San Diego State, 16-14, making great use of the 23-point spread.
Hawaii scores 16.8 points per game, while allowing 40.5 ppg. Timmy Chang’s first year at the helm hasn’t got well, but the record-breaking QB inherited a mess, so this project will take time.
Chang has rotated between Brayden Schager and Joey Yellen through the first five games. Schager started last weekend, and nearly led the Warriors to a big win, tossing for 196 yards and a score. Schager has the keys to the offense now, and he’s thrown for 855 yards with two touchdowns to four interceptions through four starts.
Hawaii has tried to establish a ground game this season, but the non-conference strength of schedule wasn’t in their favor, and this one might be either. Dedrick Parsons gets the bulk of the work for the Warriors, and he leads with 6 rushing yards and he’s scored multiple touchdowns in each of the last two games.
The pass catchers have come alive with Schager in the lineup. Senior tight end Caleb Phillips had a big game versus New Mexico State, catching eight passes for a career-high 138 yards.
