The Missouri Tigers will travel to Columbia and take on the South Carolina Gamecocks from Williams-Brice Stadium this Saturday on the SEC Network. South Carolina comes in as the three-point favorites in this one, with the total opening at 45.5.
HISTORY: These two Columbia-based schools have collided in every season since Mizzou’s arrival to the SEC. The Tigers lead the all-time series 7-5 after winning the last three matchups.
Missouri Tigers
Missouri came away from non-conference play with a 2-1 record, picking up victories over Louisiana Tech and Abilene Christian, while losing to former Big 12 rival Kansas State. Mizzou fell to Auburn in a battle of Tigers in their SEC opener, and nearly made school history in a near-win over Georgia the following Saturday. Mizzou then played Florida very well in the Swamp, coming up short but covering, and they jumped into the conference win column last time out.
In Week 7, Missouri defeated Vanderbilt, 17-14, dropping to 4-3 against the sprea this season.
Missouri scores 24.2 points per game, while allowing 23.1 ppg.
Brady Cook has been serviceable in his first year behind center. The sophomore quarterback played well against Georgia, and nearly led Tigers to one of the biggest wins in school history. Cook has thrown for 1,428 passing yards with six touchdowns to seven interceptions, and rushed for 162 yards and two scores.
Nathaniel Peat and Cody Schrader split the workload. Peat, a Stanford transfer, rushed for a season-high 117 yards versus Auburn and leads Mizzou with 387 rushing yards. Schrader leads the team with four rushing touchdowns, while rushing for 362 yards.
Dominic Lovett has established himself as the number one option early, leading the Tigers in receptions (35) and receiving yards (511).
South Carolina Gamecocks
An early conference start spelled trouble for South Carolina, but losses to Arkansas and Georgia have been followed up by four straight victories. SC defeated regional foes Charlotte and South Carolina State, before picking up their first SEC win over Kentucky on the road. Last weekend, the Gamecocks came out of their bye and defended home turf.
In Week 8, South Carolina (+3) defeated Texas A&M, 30-24, improving to 5-2 ATS this season.
South Carolina scores 33.1 points per game, while allowing 24.8 ppg.
Spencer Rattler transferred into a healthy situation in Columbia, and it’s nice to see him thrive after OU. The junior quarterback has not been flawless, but he’s delivered winning results for the past month. Rattler will look to keep things going against Mizzou here.
Rattler has thrown for 1,466 passing yards with five touchdowns to eight interceptions thus far.
Marshawn Lloyd handles the run game here at SC like Marshawn Lynch took care of things at Cal. Lloyd’s effect on the last four games has been felt, and it’s been the main ingredient to their success. Lloyd had a career day versus Charlotte, going for 169 yards and three touchdowns, and he scored twice in the win against A&M last weekend. Lloyd leads SC 526 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, while catching 17 passes and two more scores.
Antwane Wells transferred in from JMU and become the number one read early. The Richmond product exploded for a career-high 189 yards in his first taste of SEC action versus Arkansas, and he’s been steady since. Wells leads SC in receptions (30) and receiving yards (412).

Free Week 9 NCAA Football Final Analysis:
Williams-Brice will be the place to be Saturday, as South Carolina will look to follow up their biggest win of the season in style for homecoming day. The Gamecocks churn out one of the best crowds in the country, and it was on full display last weekend.
Mizzou has been competent, but they’ve also underwhelmed offensively, and this spot may just be too huge for Brady Cook to come through in. If South Carolina is able win the physical battle, and feed off of their fans, they should take care of business and secure their fifth straight win.
