The SEC conference will finally join the fun this weekend in Week 4 of the college football season. The 2019-2020 National Champion LSU Tigers will hold host the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday to kick off their eight-game SEC only schedule.
Mississippi State Bulldogs
Mike Leach will take over as the head coach in Starkville after spending eight years at the helm at Washington State. Leach is known for his air raid offensive attack which he brought to Texas Tech and Washington State in years prior.
Garrett Shrader will return as the QB of the Bulldogs after stealing the job from senior transfer Tommy Stevens last season. With Stevens gone due to graduation, this is Shrader’s job to lose coming into his sophomore season. Shrader completed 88 of 153 passes in 2019 for 1170 yards to go with his eight touchdowns and five interceptions.

Kylin Hill is also returning to school this season for his senior year in Starkville. Hill was the team’s leading rusher last season putting up 1350 yards on the ground along with 10 scores. He also grabbed 10 receptions for 180 yards and a score.
LSU Tigers
The LSU Tigers are coming off their first National Title since 2007 when Les Miles was the head coach. 2020 is going to be a difficult year for head coach Ed Orgeron as he lost almost half his team to the NFL Draft.
The Tigers offense is going to look very different this season as Joe Burrow, Clyde Edwards-Elaire, and Justin Jefferson all left for the NFL draft at the beginning of the year. Projected top-5 draft pick Ja’Marr Chase will also not be playing this season as he is opting out due to personal reasons.
Myles Brennan will get his shot at being the starting quarterback and try to be the successor to the 2020 #1 pick. Brennan didn’t play much last season and only saw a few snaps in garbage time. He completed just 24 of 40 passes for 353 yards to go along with a touchdown and an interception.
Defensively, all-American sophomore Derek Stingley Jr. leads the backfield for this Tigers team as he is a projected top-5 pick in the 2022 draft. Stingley led the country in interceptions last season as a true freshman and will try to have an even better sophomore season.
A few notable losses for Tigers on defense are Patrick Queen, K’Lavon Chaisson, and Grant Delpit.

Free Week 4 NCAA Football Prediction:
I think Mississippi State will be able to keep this one close and maybe even pull off the upset in Baton Rouge. The Tigers just lost too many pieces in the offseason and there might be a National Championship hangover as it was just eight months ago. The Bulldogs are going to be up for this one as players are trying to earn spots for years to come under new head coach Mike Leach. Give me State to keep it close and cover the +19.5.
