Monday, December 31st brings you the 17th annual Redbox Bowl featuring the Big Ten vs. the Pac-12 as the Michigan State Spartans take on the Oregon Ducks live from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Both of these teams were winners in their regular season finales as Michigan State squeaked by Rutgers 14-10, and Oregon completely demolished Oregon State 55-15.
Michigan State Spartans
The Spartans were ranked pretty high early on in the football season, but with the early season loss to Arizona State, and the late season loss to Nebraska, coupled with their failure to show up against tougher opponents, sans Penn State, this saw them outside of the Polls and wondering if they would ever climb back in.
It’s not that the Spartans were a bad team in 2018, it’s more just the fact that they really weren’t that good. Averaging only 19.8 points per game, despite totaling 343 yards per game says a lot about this team. Defensively they were great, allowing and average of 18 points against, while letting their opponents rack up 311.5 yards per game is a tremendous stat.

But if you can’t score, it doesn’t matter how many points you give up at the end of the day. In their last three games, the Spartans only scored 26 combined points. And two of those opponents were Nebraska and Rutgers! Rutgers is considered to be one of the worst programs in all of college football this year. Unless they took a long look into the mirror, and somehow found a way to score the football again, the Spartans are in for a long day on New Year’s Eve.
Oregon Ducks
Ask any Oregon Ducks fan that you can actually stand to listen to for more than 30 seconds, and they will all tell you that their team is leaps and bounds better than their 8-4 record. I mean, they did beat Washington, right?
But fact of the matter is, they are absolutely right. This team averaged 37.2 points per game on 447.5 yards per game. Their balanced attack was led for most of the season by star QB Justin Herbert, who missed the last several weeks do to injury. Herbert is listed as questionable for this game.

The Ducks weren’t great defensively, giving up nearly 400 yards per game to their opponents, but they only surrendered 27 points per contest, and they got a lot of luck along the way. Only twice on the year did they give up less than 20 points, and those two teams were Portland State, and Oregon State, two teams they should’ve held to three or fewer in all honesty.

This game really shouldn’t be close at all, especially if Oregon does in fact have a healthy Justin Herbert at the helms. I think Michigan State is in some serious trouble.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Oregon -3. Free ATS or O/U final score pick provided below!
This isn’t quite a home game for Oregon, but their fans can actually drive to the stadium instead of having to fly halfway across the country. Plus, it’s Pac-12 Country, which automatically gives them the upper hand in this game.
Take Oregon to win this game and cover the spread no problem. The Spartans are good defensively, and Oregon is hoping to rely on a QB that hasn’t played in a month and a half, but Oregon is still far superior in this game.
