The Memphis Tigers are coming into the inaugural Montgomery Bowl having won four of their last five games. This will be the final game for a senior class that has visited the AAC title game three times and brought home one conference championship. Led by sixth-year senior Brady White, this batch of seniors is looking to finish on a strong note having been unable to return to the conference championship game.
Florida Atlantic’s record was strong enough to finish second in their conference division. The Owls started the season fast at 5-1 but were forced to cancel their October 28th matchup against the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. They were unable to return to their success having lost their final two games of the season thereafter. They are looking to get back to their early season success.

The Tigers came away with a 30-27 victory over the Houston Cougars when they played last week. Brady White became Memphis’ all-time leading passer as he led his team to a 27-6 lead to end the third quarter. The defense, which has been one of the first defenses in yards allowed per game, gave up three fourth quarter touchdowns. Only a last second kick allowed the Tigers to escape with a victory.
With a lackluster rush offense, the Tigers will need to get their points through the air against a very strong passing defense (12th pass def ypp). Fortunately, Brady White has the big game experience to limit mistakes and score points just as he has done all season (TD Ratio 29:8).
Florida Atlantic Owls
They key to Florida Atlantic’s season has been its defense. While the offense averages a pedestrian 20 points per game, the defense limits the opposing to an average of approximately 17 points per game. Led by defensive end Leighton McCarthy, who is the fourth in the nation with nine total sacks, the defense can keep the Owls within striking distance.
The Owls’ offense needs to take advantage of this poor Memphis Tigers’ defense and improve on their low points per game average. QB Nick Tronti is expected to start in this game. He should be able to compliment a rushing offense that is in the top half of yards gained against a passing defense ranked 125th in passing yards allowed.
