Terrapins vs. Cornhuskers Gameday
Maryland heads to Lincoln for a Week 5 Big Ten matchup with unbeaten Nebraska at Memorial Stadium. Michael Locksley’s Terrapins are 2-2 and 0-1 in conference play, while Matt Rhule’s Cornhuskers enter at 4-0 and 1-0.
Kickoff is set for 4 PM ET on FS1.
Maryland arrives on a two-game skid after opening the season with consecutive victories. Nebraska returns home for Homecoming after winning its conference opener on the road.
Maryland needs a reset; an unbeaten Nebraska Homecoming crowd probably didn’t receive that particular memo.
The Terps have at least enjoyed this trip before. Their only previous visit to Memorial Stadium produced their first victory over Nebraska.

Maryland Terrapins vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers Odds & Last 5
The opening odds make Nebraska a substantial home favorite. The Cornhuskers are -684 on the moneyline, Maryland is +492, and Nebraska is laying 14.5 points.
The opening total is 52.5.
Maryland lost 54-3 to UCLA last week. The Terps were shut out after halftime and have now dropped two straight following a 2-0 start.
Nebraska remained unbeaten with a 31-13 victory at Michigan State. The Cornhuskers scored the game’s final 14 points to put away their Big Ten opener.
The most recent meeting came in Lincoln in 2023.

Cornhuskers Stats
Nebraska’s defense traveled extremely well to East Lansing.
The Huskers limited Michigan State to 257 total yards, including only 39 on the ground. The Spartans averaged 3.6 yards per play and couldn’t establish much of anything between the tackles.
Nebraska also won the turnover battle.
Owen Chambliss and Andrew Marshall each intercepted a pass, while the Huskers recovered a fumble. Williams Nwaneri added two sacks as the Blackshirts kept Michigan State from building sustained momentum.
Anthony Colandrea supplied production with both his arm and legs.
He threw for 212 yards and 2 TD’s while leading Nebraska with 66 rushing yards. Kwazi Gilmer gave him the explosive target, catching four passes for 101 yards.
Nebraska’s offensive line also kept Colandrea clean.
The Huskers didn’t surrender a sack, something Rhule highlighted entering this matchup. Maryland brings a much more active pass rush to Lincoln, so keeping that pocket intact becomes one of Saturday’s more important battles.
Terrapins Stats
Maryland’s offense never found an answer against UCLA.
The Terps finished with 181 total yards and converted only one third down. They managed 39 yards on the ground and went without an offensive TD.
Turnovers turned the afternoon from bad to considerably worse.
Malik Washington threw four interceptions, with UCLA returning two for TD’s. Maryland never established enough rhythm to make the Bruins defend sustained possessions.
The Terps did create some disruption defensively.
Maryland forced two fumbles and stopped UCLA on eight of 10 third downs. The pass rush remains one of the better pieces of this team, with 12 sacks through four games.
Maryland’s defense keeps doing enough useful things to deserve considerably better company from the other side of the roster.
DD Holmes leads the Terps with 2.5 sacks.
That front gets a difficult assignment against a Nebraska line coming off a clean afternoon in pass protection, but creating negative plays is Maryland’s clearest route to getting the Cornhuskers off schedule.
Terrapins vs. Cornhuskers QB Matchup
Anthony Colandrea has settled quickly into Nebraska’s offense.
The senior has completed 68 of 104 passes for 904 yards with 10 TD’s through four games. He’s added 141 rushing yards and 2 TD’s, giving Nebraska another way to punish defenses when coverage holds up.
Malik Washington has carried a heavier passing workload for Maryland.
The sophomore has thrown for 1,034 yards and completed 101 passes. Chris Durr Jr. has become his most dependable target, leading the nation with 35 receptions through four games.

Colandrea doesn’t need to force much.
Nebraska has enough around him to stay patient, and his mobility gives the Huskers an answer when Maryland’s rush gets through. The more frequently Nebraska stays out of obvious passing situations, the easier his afternoon becomes.
Washington needs to rediscover the rhythm he showed earlier in September.
Durr gives him a reliable option underneath and outside, but Nebraska has already demonstrated it can turn QB mistakes into extra possessions. Washington’s job isn’t to erase last week in one quarter; it’s to keep Maryland from making life easier for an unbeaten home favorite.
Maryland Terrapins vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers bottom line: Nebraska owns the more balanced offense, while Maryland’s best counter is creating pressure and forcing the Huskers to earn long drives.
Maryland Terrapins vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers Football Betting Trends

- Also, the Terrapins have hit the Over in all 4 of their last games after a loss.
- Nebraska is 11-1 straight up as a favorite in their last 12 games.
- The Cornhuskers have a 3-0 straight up record in their last 3 home games.
- Plus, Nebraska has a 3-1 record against the spread as a favorite in their last 4 games.

Terrapins Cornhuskers Free Pick: Under 52.5
Here is my Terrapins Cornhuskers free pick: I’m taking Under 52.5. Nebraska has enough offensive balance to control this game without turning Colandrea into a one-man air show, while Maryland’s best chance to hang around is making every Cornhuskers possession take some work.
The Terps can help themselves with pressure. Their front has consistently gotten to QB’s, but Nebraska didn’t allow a sack at Michigan State. That’s the matchup I want to watch because stalled drives and FG attempts are much friendlier to 52.5 than cheap touchdowns.
If Maryland turns this into a possession game, Nebraska has absolutely no obligation to entertain the rest of us.
The other piece is game script. Nebraska is a two-TD favorite at home, so a comfortable second-half lead should mean Rule, clock and field position rather than Colandrea launching passes because somebody’s fantasy team needs another touchdown.
My college football betting system likes the ways this game can slow down without requiring both offenses to completely disappear. Nebraska can win comfortably without a shootout, and Maryland has every reason to keep possessions valuable. Give me Maryland-Nebraska Under 52.5.
