Lot’s more eyes on the Sun Belt Championship Game this season, and deservedly so.
Both of these teams have been very good stories this season. Louisiana early with that win over Iowa State and Coastal late with their win over BYU.
In between both schools have played great football too.
Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns
The Cajuns have lost only one game all season long, to Coastal Carolina, so you can be sure they are happy to get another shot. They have beaten everyone else including Appalachian State, for the first time, last week.
In addition to that downing of ISU in week one a couple of things stand out about Louisiana. The first is that they are super balanced on offense, few teams rush and pass for over 200ypg.
They are also super stingy against the pass, 4th in the nation this season. They actually give up more rushing yards than passing. Another rarity.
When these teams met earlier in the season it was a three point game, a loss at Louisiana. QB Levi Lewis did not have his best game in a contest that was one on a FG with four seconds left.
Coastal is very capable of winning this one (if they do maybe they should play again). They have not lost on the road all season.
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
Kudos on a great season for CCU. I know the last time we saw them they were not at their best against Troy but how could there not be a letdown after that win over BYU.
The Chanticleers are also super balanced on offense, even more so that Louisiana. If you round the number they actually run an pass for 233ypg.
QB Grayson McCall is a freshman and has been a huge part of their success. He has only thrown two interceptions all season and is an important running threat too.
Coastal Carolina has been beating foes on average by 20ppg. They have had a few close calls but no team has been closer than Louisiana this season.
