The Liberty Flames will be in search of win #6 for the season and we know how important that is since they are finally even eligible to play in a bowl game. This is Liberty’s first season that we could potentially see this team in the post-season and everyone in Lynchburg is feeling the excitement.
The Flames will be facing one of the worst defenses in college football when they travel to Amherst to face the UMass minutemen as big favorites this Saturday.
At 1 – 7, the Minutemen have already ensured their post-season fate, and the streak that dates back to 1972 will have to go on a little longer. That was the last time UMass appeared in a bowl game, Let’s just say that head coach Walt HIll knew he had his hands full when he accepted this gig in New England. But hey, it’s a beautiful time of year for watching the leaves change as Autumn hits the northeast!

Liberty Flames
Did you catch Antonio Gandy-Golden’s catch last weekend in the end zone? Dude made one of the nicest catches of the season last weekend man, and the dude can ball on the brink of 1,000 receiving yards going into this weekend. Gandy-Golden has already taken in 48 grabs, but then the numbers really make you go wow. How about 945 yards averaging 19.7 a pop with 6 of the 16 team TDs in the passing game? Yowza!
In direct opposition, the entire backfield for the Flames has only accumulated 1,058 yards… ALL 11 PLAYERS combined who have a rush to their credit, people!
If you haven’t gotten a chance to see QB Steven Calvert toss the rock, you should probably watch what he does today! I will bet you he goes off on this UMass defense for 450 yards and 6 TDs. Everyone else has torn this poor Minutemen defense apart and the Flames will likely be doing that too.
Remember now, Liberty will have to win out to really get that bowl berth and even a 7 – 5 record could be questionable to land their first bowl bid. This is where having Hampton and Maine on your schedule really becomes costly, and then the way they lost to a horrible Rutgers program last weekend really makes this look impossible.
Hello, they have to go to Virginia and will have to travel to BYU next weekend… uh, no chance kids, none; zero; zilch! That makes this game huge and the New Mexico State final outing the two that could lead to 7 wins for this program.

UMass Minutemen
Well, what can we take from a 1 – 7 team that has their win against Akron out of the MAC. I mean even the Saluki’s beat this UMass team this year and this is NOT AN NCAA HOOPS PREVIEW! LOL
So, have you seen my videos on the site and how I mention stats being so full of nonsense in certain respects? I mean we are supposed to point out the players and stats that make a team look good, right? Sum up their positives and negatives.
Oh, well, the positives? Hmm, let me look.
I, Uh. Hmm, We should um… hold on I think we have… hmm, well shit!
Should we start with any of the 3 QBs we have seen not amount to much so far? When your team’s leading passer has 554 yards in Andrew Brito?
No, I got it! Let’s finish with the fact that there are 130 teams in FBS and UMass is ranked 130th IN JUST ABOUT EVERY DEFENSIVE CATEGORY THERE IS!
Hmm hmm, preview over!

I am about to be the guy having fun a bit here because wait until you see what my final score prediction is going to be below. I am thinking that Liberty just scored to make it 14 – 0 and we haven’t even kicked the damn game off yet!! LOL
I honestly think this will be a 59 – 24 win for the visiting Flames, as their receivers are going to TORCH the UMass backfield time and time again!
Ready for it? My 5 just turned to a 9 by mistake in my score prediction? Does that say 99? Oh, baby, the madness ensues!
