Kansas State is always good for a victory or two more than you would expect. They are always well coached and though seldom flashy they almost never to lose opponents they should beat…like UTSA.
The roadrunners put a scare in Arizona last week, for the season season in a row. This is an inexperienced club but deep in the heart of Texas they should do alright long term.

These programs have no history against each other to speak of.
Kansas State
The Wildcats won 34-0 last week against South Dakota. It looks like the game got the rust out but that is about all we know about KSU right now – they had eight penalties which is very not like them.
On offense nothing stands out from the performance and that is likely to be a situation that carries forward all season long. KSU does not have the same calibre of playmakers like when the Locketts were in Manhattan.
For the defense, a shutout is impressive but the Wildcats challenge will be holding up against more physical and athletic team. This week will be more indicative of where that group is at.

Coach Bill Snyder is not going to let K-State take any opponent light and they should be ready to compete on the road this weekend. The 17 points you have to give up is looking a little too generous based on last week.
UTSA
Not much was expected from the Roadrunners in their opener against Arizona but for the second year in a row they have hung with the Wildcats, this time on the road.
That doesn’t suddenly make them a player in the Conference USA race but maybe they are more mediocre than bad.
It might be hard to spell but Blake Bogenschutz looked pretty good in his first action of the season. This is a young team but you can be respectable if you have a quarterback who can make smart decisions that keep a team in the game.
UTSA did not look very good on defense against Arizona but to be fair they were facing one of the more potent attacks in America. There were definitely positives in the loss.

This group is really not getting any respect as such a big dog on the road.

Week 2 Free NCAA Football Prediction
I am going to back the spunky Roadrunners in this one. They showed well last week and are definitely more tested physically than the Wildcats coming into this one. Being at home only makes it easier to say yes.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: UTSA +17
I don’t see them winning though, just playing another tight contest.
