This bowl game matchup features the Hoosiers looking for win number 7 against a talented Utah team.
This should be an interesting matchup, as Indiana plays up to the talent level to the big teams they face.
Richard Lagow struggled in the Hoosiers win against Purdue. He was sacked 3 times, and also threw 3 interceptions in the 2 point win.
The change in head coaches may also mean a change in the play calling, and I’m not confident in Lagow putting in a good performance.
Devine Redding has been the workhorse back for the Hoosiers all season long. He’s carried the ball 20+times the last 3 games, and he has also put up over 100 yards in two of the three contests.
If he can get the ball 20+ times he should reach the end zone again in this one.
Talented Sophomore Nick Westbrook has been a game-breaker for the Hoosiers all year long, but had only 1 catch for 44 yards against the Boilermakers.
Before this 1 catch performance he averaged 5 catches and 86 yards in the previous 5 contests. Expect him to return back to that form and score a touchdown against the Utes.
The Indiana defense has given up at least 20 points in their last 11 games. This game shouldn’t be any different as the Utes offense has been underrated all season.
I expect the Hoosiers defense to be in for a long day.
The Utes had aspirations for a Pac 12 championship this season, but stagnant offensive execution in their losses put a damper on the team’s goals.
This team is still very talented and shouldn’t have any issues scoring against the Indiana defense.
Senior QB Troy Williams has struggled during Utah’s 2 game losing streak, throwing 2 interceptions and getting sacked 5 total times.
When Utah’s offense is rolling he can be a dynamic weapon running the ball, and this game he should have opportunities to make big plays.
Joe Williams has been one of the best running backs in the country this season, averaging over 148 yards per game. He ran the ball 26 times for 97 yards in the loss to Colorado.
I expect him to put up one of his best games of the season, with over 200 yards and 3 scores on the day.
Tim Patrick has been a consistent receiver for Williams all year. He caught 5 passes for 78 yards against the Buffaloes.
He hasn’t scored a touchdown in 5 games but should snap that streak in this game. He will help the Utah offense roll in the first half.
The Utes defense struggled against Colorado, giving up over 300 total yards to QB Sefo Liufau. They will need to get constant pressure on Lagow, and force a few turnovers to break the game wide open.
