The Vandals have won close matchups this season, but have a tough task going up against the Rams offense.
Idaho Vandals
Idaho has looked hot heading into bowl season, winning 4 in a row to finish the regular season with 8 wins. Starting QB Matt Linehan has been efficient under center all season long.
In the win against Georgia State he completed 78% of his passes and threw 3 touchdowns. It was only his third multi touchdown game of the season. I don’t see Linehan going 2 straight games with more than 1 touchdown pass, so look for the Rams defense to clamp down on him.
Junior tailback Aaron Duckworth hasn’t done much running the ball for the last half of the season. In the last 6 games he has averaged 8 carries and 28 yards per game. If he isn’t utilized then Vandals will have a tough time keeping this game competitive. I expect him to get 7 carries and under 25 yards on the ground.

Buck Cowan has scored 4 touchdowns in the last 3 games and the tight end will need to continue his hot streak for Idaho to stay competitive. Look for Cowan to get Linehan’s lone touchdown pass.
Colorado St. Rams
The Rams offense has found success under Nick Stevens, who has thrown only 1 interception in the last 7 games. He has also stayed consistent throwing 2 touchdowns in 5 of the last 6 games, and capping the 6th game with a great 4 touchdown performance.
Can he keep his strong play up? I believe so and the Rams offense shouldn’t have any issues finding the end zone in this game.
Dalyn Dawkins has found his groove the last 3 games. Carrying the ball over 10 times each game and reaching the 100 yard mark as well. He will need to get the ball at least 15 times for the Rams to keep the offense in a good rhythm.
I don’t see any reason why he can’t reach 100 yards on the ground for the 4th straight game.
Izzy Matthews is the other key workhorse in the backfield for Colorado St. The sophomore out of California has run the ball well the last two games, totaling 211 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns.
He has a good shot at getting 15 carries himself, and if he does expect him to get 75 yards on the ground.

Michael Gallup has been one of the best receivers in the country over the last 2 months of the season. He has scored 9 touchdowns in the last 7 games, capped off with a 3 touchdown performance against the Aztecs of San Diego State.
He should routinely beat the Vandals secondary and I expect him to put on one of the best performances of the bowl season, with 3 touchdowns and 180 receiving yards.
