This game will take place in Frisco, Texas. The game was relocated due to New Mexico’s health guidelines regarding travel and sports during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Rainbow Warriors are coming off of a 38-21 home win over UNLV and Houston suffered a 30-27 road loss to Memphis to end its regular season. Warriors are 0-2 when playing off the island and haven’t scored over 10 points when they leave their home stadium.
Hawaii Rainbow Warriors
The Rainbow Warriors finished .500 in a year in a year they were picked to finish last in the Mountain West Conference. Hawaii lost its head coach and starting QB from a season ago and new head coach Todd Graham has done a nice job bringing in transfer portal players to fill the holes.
Sophomore quarterback Chevan Cordeiro will get the start for the Rainbow Warriors in Thursday’s action. He is the leader of this Rainbow Warriors team and has thrown for 1,947 yards with 11 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also is the teams leading rusher with 450 yards and seven touchdowns.
Cordeiro’s primary targets are RB Calvin Turner and WR Jared Smart. They have combined for 745 yards and six touchdowns in eight games this year.
Defensively speaking, the Rainbow Warriors allow an average of 421 yards of offense per contest and they face a Houston offense that can be explosive on the ground or the air.
University of Houston Cougars
It’s been a wild ride for the athletes on the Houston football team this season. They have had an FBS high eight games canceled due to the COVID virus and have had zero continuity with practice get shut down every other day. Coach Hulgerson was quoted that he wants to end the year on a high note and give all the kids COVID rings if they win the bowl today. So look for there to be extra motivation in his squad.
Junior quarterback Clayton Tune has thrown for 1,832 passing yards with 13 touchdowns with seven interceptions and has thrown at least one interception in each of his last four games. He’s also rushed for 269 yards and has five touchdowns on the ground.
His primary targets are wideouts Keith Corbin and Nathaniel Dell with a combined 668 yards and three touchdowns while WR Marquez Stevenson leads the team with four touchdowns. The team will be without Marquez Stevenson in this game though as he opted out to get ready for the NFL draft.
Overall, the Cougars are averaging 32.3 points per game, while they surrender 32.6 points per game.

Free New Mexico Bowl NCAA Football Pick
I think that both of these teams have the ability to put some points up on the board quickly and with this bowl game being meaningless neither team is going to play defense.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Over 59.5
I love the over in this game. Houston coach Dana Hulgerson loves to run up the score when he is playing in meaningless games and this bowl game to cap off the 2020 season is no different. Houston averages 32.29 points per game while the Rainbow Warriors average 26.0 points per game. Hawaii has really struggled to score away from home this season, but they give up a ton of points regardless. They are allowing opponents to score an average of 29.25 points per game, which is good for 68th in the FBS. We should have clear skies for the game in Frisco, so the weather shouldn’t play a factor in the game.
