There is not a lot of buzz for this one but it should be hard hitting at least. The B10 is always looking to prove something against the SEC.
This is the first go at it for the new Georgia regime. A chance to set the tone for next year.
The Dawgs have parted ways with coach Mark Richt, who was only able to take them so far. I am not sure the new guy is going to do any better but you can’t say Richt never got a shot.
This year’s Georgia team is definitely in that very good but not great category. It also didn’t help that they lost Heisman hopeful Nick Chubb to injury.
The strength of this team this season was the defense. They have a lot of athletes on that side of the ball and the numbers are stingy. They were 9th in points allowed and 8th in yards. Most impressive they were first against the pass.
This is probably the best defense that PSU has faced all season long and they will be chomping at the bit to get after NFL prospect Christian Hackenberg.
The only reason to hold back on Georgia is you never know how a team in transition is going to perform.
Penn State Nittany Lions
I suppose that Penn State is still recovering from the scandal but now it appears they might not re-emerge as one of the prestige programs in America. This year they finished 7-5 beating pretty much nobody of note (Temple thumped them).
Even though they have a quarterback that many predict will have a fruitful NBA career they have not gotten much out of Hackenberg. You can blame the line et al but it doesn’t change the fact that he has a completion percentage of 53%.
Plus if the line is so terrible than why are they blocking so well that Saquon Barkley is averaging better than six yards a pop.
PSU has solid defensive numbers but something is not adding up as they are just 14th in yards allowed but 30th in points. There could be a lot of reasons for that but it suggests a bit of a boom or bust kind of deal.
Also, against the best, most physical teams on their schedule, Michigan State and Ohio State, they got hammered.
Georgia may not be the best team in the SEC but they are more like the aforementioned teams than PSU would like I am sure.

I love making the case for the underdogs in bowl games but here the only advantage for PSU is continuity.
