The Georgia State Panthers are 0 – 4 on the road, and there will not be consecutive bowl appearances for second year coach Shawn Elliott this season. The Panther defense has been trampled on, chewed up and spit out week in and week out this season, and the stats tell the story all too well.
Georgia State ranks 117th or worse in 5 of the 8 major defensive categories, and bottom out at 123rd in the nation in total yards allowed per game this season.

We all those issues in these parts, and the Georgia State Panthers have had them all year long.
Louisiana look to get back to the .500 mark, as they enter this weekend listed as -14 point favorites at home. After a tough loss to Troy last weekend, the Ragin’ Cajun’s now have three chances left to win two games that could make them bowl eligible in 2018.
Georgia State Panthers
With all the defensive statistics drastically against them, the Panther’s offense hasn’t exactly done their part this year either. They are only scoring 26 points (93rd) a game on average, but they’re giving up 37 per contest as well.
Junior QB Dan Ellington is likely going to be forced to sit out this weekend with lingering concussion symptoms. The Panthers were 7-point favorites last weekend when they hosted Texas State, and ended up losing 40 – 31 to fall to 2 – 7 on the season.

Ellington left the game going 11 for 22 passing with 112 yards, before Aaron Winchester came on in relief. Winchester ended up going 10 for 18 with a matching 112 yards, although he did find the end zone once with his arm, and once more with his legs in the loss.
Junior QB Aaron Winchester has appeared in five games this year, as he waited his turn behind Conner Manning. Ellington win the job in the spring, but now Winchester will apparently have his chance to possibly finish out the season under center. Concussion issues can linger as we know all too well.
Winchester’s dual-threat capability certainly makes him an asset to a struggling offense.
Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns
The Ragin’ Cajuns are 6 – 3 against the spread in 2018, although they are not used to being double-digit favorites as they are this weekend against Georgia State. Louisiana were 13.5 chalk vs Grambling to open the season, but they’ve been underdogs in 5 of their other 8 games this year.
Senior QB Andre Nunez really isn’t doing much different than he did a season ago with Louisiana.
[dfads params=’groups=219&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
Outside of seeing more playing time, the numbers basically mirror what he accomplished in 2017. His completion percentage hasn’t improved much, and he has thrown 8 interceptions while having at least two in three different games.
The Wolfpack will likely have a 1,000-yard rusher, should Trey Ragas stay healthy, although his buddy Elijah Mitchell is listed as questionable this weekend. Mitchell suffered a neck injury, which will likely put even more carries in Ragas’ hands this weekend.
Ragas has 840 from 144 carries in 2018, and has fond the end zone 8 times, 9 overall if we include his lone TD catch.
Winchester and Nunez will have plenty of opportunities to put up points in this contest. The total is set at 67.5, and the Over will be your 4* play of the weekend.
