The Georgia Southern Eagles have been having a great season thus far with a 6-2 record and they will look to continue their winning ways this Saturday against the Army Black Knights who will almost certainly show up and make the Eagles bring their A-game in order to get the W.
Army came into last weeks game against Tulane off the back of 4 straight wins against mediocre competition and they just did not have enough as they were blown out by Tulane by a score of 38-12.
Georgia Southern Eagles
The Georgia Southern Eagles just barely scraped by the Texas State Bobcats almost exclusively based on the rushing game of QB Shai Werts who went well over 100 yards and rushed in 3 TD’s. That game was a lot closer than it should have been, however, as the Eagles out gained the Bobcats by almost 150 yards.
They have played some solid competition, as well, with games against the Ragin’ Cajuns and the Chanticleers and they were actually quite competitive in those games, so they certainly have the ability to beat a team like Army off the backs of those performances.
The Eagles defense will need to be better though, as their performance last week against the Bobcats was not good enough, and that unit is what the Eagles lean on.
Army Black Knights
Army really should have made last week’s game against Tulane a lot closer than it was, as they turned the ball over 3 times which was critical considering Tulane did not turn the ball over once. Once again we know exactly what we are going to get from this Army team with their rush first mentality and that rushing game starts with QB Christian Anderson who is the primary ball carrier for this team.
Army, like most years, is a well coached and fundamentally sound football team, so I do expect them to bounce back here and clean up their turnovers which were crucial in their last contest.
