The Georgia Bulldogs will be taking on the Michigan Wolverines in the College Football Playoff semifinals on December 31st. The kickoff is set for 7:30 ET from Hard Rock Stadium.
Georgia ended their regular season by losing in the SEC title game, while Michigan ended theirs by winning the Big Ten title game.
The Bulldogs started off as a 7 point favorite and that number is now up to 7.5 and I am seeing some 8’s as well. The total has gone from 43 to 44.5.
Georgia clearly had a very good season, but I think we all found out that they were not as dominant as we thought they were. Like a lot of teams, this squad has its flaws.
The Bulldogs got crushed by the Alabama Crimson Tide last Saturday by a score of 41-24. Simply put, they just did not play a good game at all, so the result should really not surprise folks. They got totally exposed by the tide.
In the loss over Bama, Stetson Bennett did not play his best game at all. He finished the day 29/48 for 340 yards with 3 touchdowns and 2 picks. A lot of fans on the side of Georgia are calling for JT Daniels to get the start over the Wolverines.
All year long, these guys ran the ball very effectively, but that was not the case when they went against Alabama, who did a good job of slowing it down. It will not get any easier when they try and run it against a very good Michigan defense.
The defense, which had been labeled as the best in the country, was certainly not that in the loss to the Crimson Tide. They got totally shredded by the explosive passing attack of Alabama. Now, they will be tasked with slowing down a very good running game in Michigan.
Michigan has certainly been one of the best teams in the country throughout the year. I have been very impressed with what I have seen out of them so far this year.
The Wolverines beat their rival, the Ohio State Buckeyes on November 27th by a score of 42-27. They punched the Buckeyes in the mouth and they did not respond at all. They will once again be in for a big challenge when they face the Bulldogs. Let me not forget that they crushed the Iowa Hawkeyes last week in their conference title game.
Cade McNamara was 13/19 for 159 yards with 1 pick in the win over OSU. He was not asked to do a lot, but he made the plays that he had to make.
The running game, which is a huge strength of this team, absolutely torched the Ohio State defense. Hassan Haskins ran the ball 28 times for 169 yards for 5 touchdowns. Things may not come as easy for the running game when they face an angry Georgia defense.
The defense has played very well all year long for this team and I think they can keep up that good play when they go against Georiga. It will not be an easy task, but if they can generate pressure on the quarterback, then I think this unit will have a very good day.

Let me just say this: out of all the matchups we could have gotten in the first round, I am looking forward to this one the most.
I am picking Michigan at +7.5 here
4* Orange Bowl NCAA Betting Pick:
Wow, this is a very fascinating game. I feel like it is going to be one helluva game.
What is interesting about this game is you have two teams who play a very similar style. For the most part, they play very good defense and run the football effectively. Since I do not see this being a shootout, points will be at a premium in this one.
I definitely feel that the Wolverines can compete in this one. They may not win the game, but I certainly feel they can cover that number based on how they have played so far. The 7.5 is just a bit too high for me to lay with the Bulldogs.
Give me Michigan catching 7.5 points in the Orange Bowl.
