It’s been a while since we’ve seen these powerhouse teams collide, and I am eagerly awaiting kickoff.
Georgia leads 6-4-1 in the series, their last meeting dating to January 1, 2003.
Florida State boasts 8 wins against bowl-eligible teams this season, tops in the nation. They stand at 13-0 (8-0 ACC) with a 19-game win streak, second-longest nationwide.
Their next challenge is the Georgia Bulldogs (12-1, 8-0 SEC), who have been dominant, winning 45 of their last 47 games.
Georgia also flaunts six consecutive bowl victories and a 3-1 record in past Orange Bowl appearances.
FSU faces a substantial test, but they seem well-prepared, wouldn’t you agree? (That could or could not be construed as sarcasm)

Georgia Bulldogs
This season, Georgia set an SEC record for the most consecutive weeks at #1 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. Yet, here they are, NOT playing for a national title.
After trailing by -14 at halftime, Georgia could not make a comeback and lost their most recent game 27-24 to Alabama.
Having been favored in all of their games so far, the Bulldogs have a 4-7-1 vs. the spread. Georgia’s average scoring margin for the season is +21.8 points per game.
So far this season, the average over/under line for Georgia’s games has been 53.8 points.
The Bulldogs have an over/under record of 6-6 heading into this week’s game.
Georgia Bulldogs Stats
Georgia’s rushing attack is ranked 42nd in college football with 444 rushing attempts per game. This has translated into an average of 177.5 rushing yards per game, placing them 24th nationally.
On average, they are attempting 32.9 passes per game leading to 305.6 passing yards per contest. In terms of scoring, they hold the 7th position, averaging 38.4 points per game.
So far this season, the Bulldogs’ defense has given up 117.8 rushing yards per game against the run (177th). Opponents are averaging 177.7 passing yards and opposing quarterbacks have a passer rating of 72.1 against Georgia. In terms of points allowed, they are 97th in the NCAA.
The Bulldogs’ offense ended the game with three rushing touchdowns vs. Alabama and 78 rushing yards on 31 attempts.
The team’s passing attack did not pick up a score, and finished with 243 while throwing the ball 29 times.
Florida State Seminoles
This marks FSU’s first Orange Bowl appearance since 2016 when they defeated Michigan 33-32 and their 11th time in the Orange Bowl.
Heading into their matchup with Georgia, the Seminoles are looking to build on their most recent 16-6 win over Louisville.
Florida State’s average scoring differential for the season is +21.1 leading to an ATS mark of 7-4. The Seminoles have been favored 10 times and the underdog in one games
Florida State has an over/under record of 6-5 so far this season.
On average their games have combined for 52.9 points with the average over/under line being 51.2 points.
Florida State Seminoles Stats
Florida State’s offense is averaging 37 points per game, which ranks them 9th in the NCAA.
Through the air, they’re at 259.4 passing yards on average, putting them at 27th in the nation. Their rushing attack is currently 54th in rushing yards, with an average of 425 rushing attempts per game this season.
The Seminoles’ offense wrapped up their game vs. Louisville with one rushing touchdown and 177 rushing yards on 41 attempts.
Unfortunately, their passing game couldn’t find the endzone and gained 55 yards on 21 attempts.
The Florida State defense, going into this week’s game, holds 54th place for points allowed, allowing 15.9 points per game. Opponents have been gaining an average of 170.4 passing yards each game against them (23rd in the country).
On the ground, they’re yielding 135.5 rushing yards, ranking them 57th in college football.
Fact: If there’s one positive aspect for this FSU squad in the Orange Bowl, it’s that some young players will gain valuable experience by competing against top-notch ball players from UGA.

4* Free 2023 Capital One Orange Bowl NCAA Betting Prediction: Georgia -13.5
It’s tough to see how FSU can compete in this matchup. Florida State’s roster is significantly weaker than Georgia’s, with many FSU starters either leaving for the NFL or entering the transfer portal.
They have over 18 players in the transfer portal and 3-4 players going to the NFL. While the Bulldogs also have players in similar situations, the Seminoles are 20-point underdogs for a reason.
It’s unfortunate for those who bet on FSU at +14 a couple of weeks ago. UG’s roster is just much, much deeper.
For the moneyline bet, the smart move is to take Georgia. I not only anticipate them securing the win against Florida State but also covering the spread.
The Georgia offense has been good on third down this season, and should continue to move the chains against Florida State. My pick is to bet on Georgia at -13.5.
Georgia’s games this season have produced an average of 55 points. But this won’t be an ordinary game. With the over/under line set at 44.5, I’m opting for the UNDER.
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Florida State’s last 5 games and in 4 of Georgia’s last 5 games. Additionally, the total has gone UNDER in 4 of Georgia’s last 6 games when they are the favorite.
