Two top-10 teams will be meeting up in Atlanta for a New Year’s Six Bowl as the eighth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs will be taking on the ninth-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats in the Chick-fil-a Peach Bowl. The Bulldogs are coming off a demolishing of 25th-ranked Missouri 49-14 in their most recent game, while the Bearcats closed out the AAC title with a win over Tulsa 27-24 after having that game canceled twice.
Georgia Bulldogs
After losing to Alabama and Florida, who were both in the top-10 at the time, the Bulldogs will try to earn their first statement win here. Georgia has seen a carousel of players at QB this season and now Kirby Smart has found his guy heading into next season.
J.T Daniels who was once a highly-touted prospect out on the West Coast has found himself a home with the Georgia Bulldogs and has been productive since taking over the starting job. He has completed 54 of 81 passes for 839 yards to go with a 9:1 TD to INT ratio in just three games this season. Since Daniels took over the job the Bulldog’s offense is averaging 41.7 points per game.
Overall on the season though, Georgia is averaging 33.2 points per game which is 34th in the FBS. They average 232.8 passing yards per game and 188.6 rushing yards per game.
Zamir White leads the team in rushing as he has toted the ball 133 times for 740 yards and 10 scores this season
The defense has been Georgia’s bread and butter for the last few years and this year is no different. The Bulldogs are allowing 19.9 points per game ranking them as the 18th best scoring defense in the FBS. They have the best rushing defense in the FBS surrendering just 69.3 rushing yards per game.
Cincinnati Bearcats
Cincinnati had their final two regular-season games canceled but shook off that rust to come up with the win over Tulsa in the AAC Championship Game last week. The Bearcats remain unbeaten on the year and look for a 10th victory of the season in this matchup of top-10 teams.
The Bearcats come into this contest 49th in the nation in passing offense as they average 242.2 yards per game. Cincinnati is 14th in rushing offense as they pound out 225 yards per contest. They are 15th in scoring offense with an average of 39.3 points per game.
Junior QB Demond Ridder has done a nice job of improving his skills as a game manager this season and it really has proven work wonders as the Bearcats are undefeated still. Desmond Ridder is 162 of 244 passing for 2,090 yards with 17 touchdowns and six interceptions while rushing for 609 yards and 12 scores.
Gerrid Doaks leads the team with 144 carries for 673 yards and has a team-high nine touchdowns this season. Michael Young is tied for the team lead with 25 receptions for 273 yards and three scores. Jerome Ford is also a dual-threat running back for the Cats that has 422 scrimmage yards and seven touchdowns this season.
Cincinnati is tough defensively as they are 13th in total defense (313.4 yards per game) and stand 21st in total defense (192.3 yards per game) this season.
