Gators vs. Tigers Gameday
No. 8 Florida heads to Columbia for a Week 5 SEC matchup with No. 25 Missouri at Faurot Field. Jon Sumrall’s Gators are 4-0 and 2-0 in conference play, while Eli Drinkwitz’s Tigers enter at 3-1 and 0-1 in the SEC.
Florida arrives as one of the hottest teams in the country.
The Gators have scored more than 40 points in every game. Missouri returns home trying to respond after suffering its first loss of the season.
Florida brings the fireworks to Columbia, where Missouri would be perfectly happy to ruin everybody’s new Gator love affair.
Saturday is Missouri’s 115th Homecoming game, and the program-record sellout streak will reach 23 games. Drinkwitz has gone 35-9 at Faurot Field during his tenure.

Florida Gators vs. Missouri Tigers Odds & Last 5
The opening odds make Florida the road favorite. The Gators are -206 on the moneyline and laying 5 points at -111.
The opening total is 56.5, with the Over priced at -113.
Florida beat Ole Miss 52-28 last week after taking an 11-point advantage into halftime. The Gators scored 35 points after the break to put away the Rebels.
Missouri suffered its first loss with a 31-24 defeat at Mississippi State.
The Tigers erased a 14-point deficit and grabbed a fourth-quarter lead before the Bulldogs answered. Missouri later reached the Mississippi State 11-yard line with a chance to tie before coming up empty.
The Tigers have enjoyed this matchup recently.
Missouri won 33-31 when these teams last met in 2023 and has taken three of the last four overall. The Tigers have also won the last two meetings played in Columbia.

Tigers Stats
Missouri showed plenty of fight after falling behind Mississippi State.
Austin Simmons connected twice with Cayden Lee for third-quarter TD’s, helping the Tigers turn that early deficit into a 24-17 advantage. Missouri couldn’t finish it from there, but the offense gave itself opportunities right to the final snap.
Lee has developed into Missouri’s top target.
He has 27 catches for 412 yards and 4 TD’s through four games. Donovan Olugbode has 313 yards and a team-high 5 receiving TD’s, giving Simmons a dangerous pair of options outside.
Missouri has also done an excellent job protecting its QB.
The Tigers have allowed only four sacks through four games. That protection becomes especially important against a Florida defense capable of creating pressure without selling out to get it.
Daeden Hopkins has been Missouri’s biggest problem-maker on the other side.
Hopkins recorded 3.5 sacks against Mississippi State and has six through four games. Missouri may need more of that pressure Saturday with Darris Smith and Langden Kitchen questionable.
Gators Stats
Florida overwhelmed Ole Miss with its running game.
The Gators rushed for 302 yards and six TD’s while controlling possession for nearly 37 minutes. Jadan Baugh carried 29 times for 142 yards and three scores, while Duke Clark added 126 yards and another TD.
That ground attack has become the engine of Sumrall’s offense.
Florida is averaging 53.5 points and 532.8 yards per game. The Gators have turned 20 of their 24 red-zone possessions into TD’s, so there hasn’t been much settling for consolation FG’s.
Florida keeps reaching the red zone and treating three points like somebody forgot half the order.
The Gators have been stout against the run as well.
Opponents are averaging 103 rushing yards per game, while Florida has recorded 12 sacks and forced eight turnovers. That combination puts pressure on opposing offenses to find another way to move the football.
Vernell Brown III and Bailey Stockton are questionable. Eric Singleton Jr. is probable after returning from his ankle injury last week.
Gators vs. Tigers QB Matchup
Austin Simmons has given Missouri an excellent start at QB.
Simmons has completed 70 of 107 passes for 947 yards with 11 TD’s and no interceptions. He has also developed an excellent connection with Lee and Olugbode, giving Missouri a passing game capable of attacking different areas of the field.
Aaron Philo has been equally steady for Florida.
Philo has completed better than 72% of his passes for 917 yards with 7 TD’s. He’s also added three rushing scores, giving Florida another option when the field gets compressed.

“ Anybody can post a prediction. CappersPicks backs up its sports picks with opinionated matchup analysis, experienced handicappers & documented betting performance. Pad that bankroll one day at a time! ”
The difference is what surrounds them.
Florida can make defenses commit extra bodies to Baugh and Clark before asking Philo to beat the resulting coverage. Missouri enters without Ahmad Hardy and Malae Fonoti, putting more responsibility on Simmons and the passing game.
That’s not necessarily a terrible assignment for the Tigers.
Simmons has yet to throw an interception, while Florida’s defense has been considerably stingier against the run. If Missouri has to lean on its QB Saturday, at least it’s handing the job to someone who has spent September making pretty good decisions with the football.
Florida Gators vs. Missouri Tigers bottom line: Florida owns the nastier running game, but Missouri has enough protection and passing talent to make the Gators defend the entire field.

Gators Tigers Free Pick: Missouri Tigers +5
Here is my Gators Tigers free pick: I’m taking Missouri +5. Florida deserves the respect after that start, but we’re getting a ranked home dog with an offense capable of answering. I’m interested.
Simmons is the biggest reason. He’s pushing the football downfield without giving possessions away, and Missouri’s offensive line has protected him well enough to let those routes develop. That’s important against a Florida pass rush that can wreck an afternoon quickly.
Florida may be the shiny new toy in the SEC, but I’m not tossing five points in the garbage to admire it.
The Gators’ running game is going to get its yards. I’m not asking Missouri to perform a magic trick against Baugh. I need the Tigers to prevent those long, soul-crushing drives from turning this into a two-score chase and give Simmons enough possessions to keep answering.
That’s the beauty of taking five. Florida can remain unbeaten and I can still collect the ticket. I’ll take the points with a dangerous QB and let the Gators prove they’re ready to dominate away from Gainesville too. Give me Missouri +5.
