The Duke Blue Devils started out the season well going 4-2 in their first 6, but have since fallen off and lost their last 4 games, albeit against solid competition. The schedule once again has done them no favors here, as they get yet another tough road test.

No one really expected Wake Forest to do much against Clemson last week, but that was an especially bad performance on both sides of the ball. The defense gave up 52 points and the offense only managed a little over 100 total yards, but both of these units should be able to have a much better game here against Duke.

That game should have been a lot closer last week, but turnovers really did make that score look pretty brutal and it was the interceptions thrown by QB Quentin Harris which were really critical. Harris certainly has good games in him, but he really has not shown up the last 4 weeks and he now has 6 interceptions over that 4 game span

This Blue Devils team is really short at the skill positions as well as their leading receiver only has a little over 300 yards and their leading rusher Deon Jackson only has 571 total yards. With them being so weak at these positions and the fact their QB has not been playing all that well it is hard to imagine how Duke keeps up with Wake Forest here.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will want to forget about last week and for the sake of evaluating their chances against Duke it is probably okay for us to do the same. The thing is the week before that against Virginia Tech was not a whole lot better and they once again struggled to run the ball in that game.

Duke does not have the talent that Wake Forest’s previous two opponents have so I would expect a solid bounce back performance for the Demon Deacons on home soil.

Starting QB Jamie Newman will also look to rebound as he looks to further pile on the statistics in what has been a real solid season for the junior.
