The week seven matchup will see the Colorado State Rams take on the New Mexico Lobos. Both teams are coming off losses and are not having a good season at all.
This is a Mountain West conference game, and both teams will be looking for their first conference win. New Mexico especially because they have just one loss in conference play, meaning they still have the opportunity to run the table and play in the Mountain West championship game.

Colorado State has dominated this series, winning the last 9 meetings in a row.
Colorado State Rams
The Rams are off to a 1-5 start after another poor showing last week against San Diego State. They lost this game 24-10, and just did not have the offense needed to score points.
As a whole, their offensive unit is not as bad as most would think. They are 34th in the country in total yards per game, 456.7. They are also 22nd in the country in passing yards per game, 302.3.
Where they struggle is scoring the football. They average 28.7 points per game, which may seem decent, but it ranks 70th in the country. They are slightly better on the road, scoring an average of 29 points per game, so that could give them the edge they need.
There is no other way to say it other than saying their defense is absolutely terrible. They allow 36.5 points per game, which ranks 115th in the country. They also allow 215.2 rushing yards, also ranking 115th in the country.
Unfortunately, the Lobos biggest strength is running the ball, so the only way the Rams have a chance is to slow down their rushing attack.
New Mexico Lobos
The Lobos lost their second straight game last Friday night to San Jose State. The score in this game was 32-21. The Lobos got down 26-0 in the first half and that was basically the game by halftime.

There were some positives to take away starting with the offense. They had 238 yards rushing on 48 carries. This was 5.8 yards per carry. They are now ranked 33rd in the country in rushing offense and will need to focus on this area if they are going to beat the Rams.
On the flip side, their offense turned the ball over six times, including four interceptions from a combined two quarterbacks and they also two lost fumbles. Cleaning up turnovers will be a key component this week because they cannot afford to have their defense on the field for long periods of times.
The only positive defensively was their rush defense. They held the Spartans to 52 yards rushing on 34 carries.
Now the biggest negative was their passing defense. On the season, they allow 386 yards per game through the air. This is 130th or dead last in the FBS. We saw them get picked apart by the San Jose State quarterback, as he threw for 406 yards and two touchdowns.
Not really surprising, but the only way New Mexico stands a chance is if they can limit the passing offense of the Rams. Otherwise, the Colorado State quarterback is going to look like a superstar against this soft Lobos secondary.

Free Week 7 NCAA Football Pick
It has been nearly a decade since the Lobos have won against the Rams. That said, I think their running game will give them a chance to shorten the game and I like the Lobos to pull off the outright upset.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: New Mexico Lobos +4
I like the Lobos to at the very least cover the spread, but I also like them to get the win.

Randolph H Briggs says
Having led the country in rushing 2 years in a row(2 years ago), I think Davie will feel comfortable having S. Jones pitch, run and pass the Lobos to victory w/o any turnovers!
