The college football season continues this week with the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers making the trip to Lawrence to line up against the Kansas Jayhawks.
The Chanticleers will be looking for their first win of the season after falling at home last week to the Eastern Michigan Eagles.
The Kansas Jayhawks will be looking for a second consecutive win after squeaking by last week with a 24-17 win against the Indiana State Sycamores.

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers lost a 23-30 heartbreaker at home against Eastern Michigan last week. The Chanticleers were feeling good at the half, leading the Eagles 13-7. They were unable to hang on for the win and facing a much tougher opponent this week.
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
Coastal Carolina was able to ring up 23 first downs last week, moving the chains six of 16 times on third down. At first glance, the stats didn’t look bad at all with a total of 378 yards on offense.
With Coastal Carolina only picking up an average of 2. Yards per carry, they struggled to gain just 74 yards on the ground.

They did however ring up 304 yards through the air in the game. Quarterback Fred Payton was able to connect on 29 of 43 attempts and was able to throw two touchdowns. But, he also managed to complete four passes to the Eastern Michigan defense.
CJ Marable was the leading receiver with seven receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown. He also led the ground attack with 49 rushing yards on 18 carries.
The Chanticleer defense had its moments, holding the Eagles to a total of 291 yards. While the 188 passing yards they gave up wasn’t too bad, they did allow Eastern Michigan to complete 20 of 22 passing attempts.
They were stronger against the run, limiting the Eagles to 2.9 yards per carry. Silas Kelly and Teddy Gallagher led the team with nine tackles each.
There’s an honorable mention I do need to make, though. Kicker Massimo Biscardi was three for three in the game, including a 53 yarder. With the spread being 10 points, that could be something to keep in mind. The kid has a boot on him.
Kansas Jayhawks
The Kansas Jayhawks will be looking to start the season 2-0 after winning against the Indiana State Sycamores, 24-17, last week.

The Jayhawks were up 10-3 at the break and managed to hold on the rest of the way for the win.
Kansas gained a total of 344 yards with 241 of them coming through the air. The Jayhawks were able to break the century mark with 103 rushing yards, but the offense put the ball on the ground for a total of three fumbles.
Quarterback Carter Stanley was able to connect on 20 of 29 passing attempts, tossing the ball for 241 and two touchdowns.
Khalil Herbert led the ground attack with 88 yards on 17 carries while Andrew Parchment had 121 receiving yards on eight receptions.
On the defensive side of the field, the Jayhawks gave up a total of 365 yards, 219 of which were passing. Kansas had difficulties stopping the run at times, giving up an average of 3.9 yards per carry.
Linebacker Dru Prox led the squad with nine tackles and a sack. Hasan Defense, yes, that’s his last name, and Jeremiah McCullough each had an interception.

Free Week 2 NCAA Football Pick
I like the total going over 52.5 in this one. While both of these offenses had issues with turnovers last week, they also both managed to throw the ball down the field. When you add the strength of Coastal Carolina’s leg, the scoreboard could very easily get lit up in this one.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick:
After the close call against a below average team in Indiana State, I’m not confident in Kansas covering the spread. I do think the Jayhawks will get the win at home, though.
