The 2nd of 2 BCS Playoff Semi Final matchups pins the #3 Ohio State Buckeyes taking on the #2 Clemson Tigers.
Clemson gets the honors of being the #2 team in this spot as they come in off an ACC Championship Game win which allowed them to jump the Buckeyes.
#3 Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State is the only representative in the BCS Playoffs that didn’t participate in their conference title game.
The Buckeyes lone loss of this season came at the hands of Penn State in Happy Valley, as a blocked field goal did Ohio State in. The loss was extremely hurtful with the Nittany Lions getting the tiebreaker and representing the Big 10 East in the title game.
However, a marquee win over the Oklahoma Sooners gave the Buckeyes the nod over the #5 Penn State Nittany Lions.
The Buckeyes will lean on JT Barrett, who has been extremely inconsistent this season. Barrett has either been on top of his game and unstoppable, or simply a struggle. Look for him to have to use his legs here quite a bit as the Clemson defense is very vulnerable to the run game.
Defensively, this Ohio State team allows just 14.2 points per game. They are one of the best in the nation and force a lot of turnovers.
Slowing down Deshaun Watson and not allowing him to get a lot of time in the pocket is crucial.
#2 Clemson Tigers
The Clemson Tigers dropped a late season game to Pittsburgh at home, but managed to avoid a big drop and now find themselves as the #2 team in the country.
Clemson enters play fresh off an ACC Championship win that saw them avoid a late let down against the Hokies who cut the deficit to just 1 possession.
The Tigers offense will rely on Deshaun Watson and Wayne Gallman here.
Watson has racked up 3914 yards through the air and is a dual threat with his legs as well. Watson and the offense will also try to get the ball in the hands of Wayne Gallman as much as possible.
Gallman leads the team with 1002 yards on the ground, while compiling 15 touchdowns on the year.
This Tigers offense is incredibly explosive and can strike at any moment. Look for a lot of deep ball chances here, as they have to find big plays to beat this Ohio State defense.
