College GameDay is coming to South Carolina as two ranked teams will be facing off in Brooks Stadium this weekend. The BYU Cougars are traveling to SC to take on Coastal Carolina in this week’s most anticipated game. BYU is coming off a 66-14 drubbing of North Alabama, while the Chanticleers took down Texas State 49-14 this past week.
BYU is trying to capture their first undefeated season since going 13-0 in 1984. They have a very balanced attack on both sides of the ball and a win today boosts the Cougar’s chance of making the CFP to 47% instead of the current 17% that is at.
Heisman candidate and likely NFL draft pick, Zach Wilson will try to put the stamp on his college resume with a win over a highly ranked team. Wilson has completed 176 of 237 passes this season for 2724 yards to go along with 27 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He is tied for second in the FBS for the least amount of turnovers and only trails Grayson McCall who is the Chanticleers QB.
Junior running back Tyler Allgeier leads the team in rushing yards with 851 yards this season and leads the team in touchdowns from scrimmage with 11 this season. Dax Milne is the teams leading receiver and has posted 966 yards from scrimmage this season for the Cougars.
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
Coastal Carolina has looked like one of the most underrated football teams in the nation as it has won each of its first nine games. Jamey Chadwell’s squad had high hopes of capturing a Sun Belt title at the beginning of the season and they will have an opportunity next week to claim the headline in the conference championship game.
Red-Shirt freshman Grayson McCall has done a very nice job with the offense. He has completed 117 of 174 passes this season for 1747 yards accompanied by a 20:1 TD to INT ratio. He is tied for the least interceptions in the FBS with quarterbacks who have at least 100 pass attempts.
Coastal Carolina’s offense has been amazing this season as it currently ranks 16th in the nation with 38.1 points per game. In addition, the Chanticleers are averaging 225.6 rushing yards per game which is the 17th-most in the nation as they have been able to move the ball with ease on the ground with no resistance.
Defensively, the Chants have been above average all season, but they have played some inferior opponents at times. Coastal’s defense ranks 14th in the FBS as they give up 14.6 points per game. They give up an average of 181.4 yards through the air and 140.8 yards on the ground per contest to opposing teams.

Free Week 14 NCAA Football Prediction:
I’m going to take BYU and lay the number in this game. The Cougars have been on a roll all season and they come into this game with two weeks of rest. Kalani Sitake’s squad knows that a college football playoff berth might be at stake with a win here, so they are going to be putting all their energy into this one. Both teams have played mediocre competition this year, so it will interesting to see the level of play between the two teams. BYU is simply the better team on both sides of the ball and I don’t think the Chanticleers will have the manpower to be able to keep up their high octane offense. Give me BYU to cover the number, but I don’t love this game.
