Baylor still ranks #4 preseason, but will have a tough task of replacing former QB Bryce Petty, who was a 2nd round pick in the NFL.
SMU has enough problems of their own to worry about how Baylor will react with everything going on.
The Mustangs lost by an average of 30 points last year in games and will begin this season under new head coach Chad Morris.
#4 Baylor Bears
The Baylor Bears knew they would have a difficult time replacing their star 2014 QB. Right now though, thats not their only problem.
In the recent news it came out that Baylor had been mishandling a player’s sexual assault case. Baylor denied knowing about the incident when in fact they knew exactly what the situation was.
With that, Baylor now must put that aside and focus on developing their new players heading into Week 1.
The good news for Baylor, they return a pair of 1000 receivers. Corey Coleman and KD Cannon both caught over 1000 yards last year and had a combined 19 TDs. They’ll have new QB Seth Russell throwing to them.
The Mustangs have been one of the worst offensive teams in all of the nation in the past couple seasons. They is a big reason why they will be starting 2015 under a new head coach.
New head coach Chad Morris comes in and brings his own unique style to the Mustangs offense. It can’t get much worse than 2014 as they were outscored by an average of 30 points.
They’ll have Junior Matt Davis under center, who started the final 4 games of 2014. He was part of an offense that scored only 11.1 point a game and averaged 269 yards a game.
The embarrassment led the Mustangs to just a 1-11 record in 2014. They have also lost 11 straight to Baylor in their head-to-head series.
