This is a big one for the status of the Wildcats program. They are at home facing a wounded opponent, can they take advantage.
Similarly, things will get pretty hot for Auburn if they start losing to Kentucky.

The number says this one is going to be tight. The winner is still out of the race but gains a lot.
Auburn
The Tigers came into the season as a Top 25 team and heading into this game many are wondering whether they will win a conference game at all this season. This might be their best shot but they are barely favoured despite their “big time” status.
This team has disappointed all season long and now there are some early cries for Gus Malzahn’s head.

That is because Jeremy Johnson has been an absolute disaster. He has been benched in favour of Sean White but that is not really the answer. They have to get JJ playing the way we thought he would if they really want to win.
Not helping matters is the fact that the defense is pretty light, not able to stop the running game – 108th in the country. That weakness may not be fully exploited against Kentucky but they need to shore that up to have any chance in the SEC.
Another loss this weekend would not be a shocker. The question is where does this team go next.
Kentucky
The Wildcats have a 2-1 record in the SEC East right now, good for second place. Is there a chance they could represent the division with Florida’s recent QB woes.
Kentucky has wins over Mizzou and South Carolina and Georgia is not what it was just a couple of weeks ago. I am not saying it is going to happen but things are breaking in that direction.

Including getting a struggling Auburn squad this week at home. They have had two weeks to prepare too so it wouldn’t surprise me if Coach Stoops has some new wrinkles.
They are going to have to get their offense going though.
This Thursday nighter is a huge opportunity for the program as a whole and you can bet the fans will be creating a fun atmosphere in Lexington.
