The 119th edition of the Army-Navy game takes place Saturday afternoon inside M&T Bank Stadium.
The Midshipmen have won 14 straight in this series, but this is one year not to count out the Black Knights, who are bowl eligible at 6-5.
The Navy Midshipmen come into this ranked 25th in the nation in the AP Poll, as they barely stayed in the rankings after their horrible loss over the weekend to Temple in the AAC Championship Game.
The Midshipmen got nothing going with the triple option and couldn’t slow down the Owls running game, in what was eventually a 34-10 loss.
To make matters worse from the loss to Temple, the Midshipmen will likely be without QB Will Worth here. Worth injured his ankle in the loss and will be a huge piece missing from that triple option attack. Worth has accumulated nearly 1200 yards rushing and has 25 rushing touchdowns to his credit
With Worth down, Zach Abey will step in. Abey got into the game to get some reps on Saturday and things didn’t go according to plan for him.
Abey threw a pair of interceptions, which is extremely odd for a team that throws just 11 times on average per game. Abey will likely be asked to run a lot more here, which is something nobody has seen this season as he’s had minimal playing time.
Army Black Knights
The Army Black Knights would normally have an advantage coming into this matchup as they get a 3 week bye from their last game to this one.
However, that clearly hasn’t worked out given their 14 game losing streak
Army enters play after knocking off Morgan State in what was a 60-3, pure domination effort.
Army makes it no secret what they like to do and thats run the ball right at you, like Navy. Army ran the ball 60 times for 504 yards and 7 touchdowns in the win over Morgan State.
QB Ahmad Bradshaw typically knows what the play call will be coming from the sideline. On the season, Bradshaw has thrown the ball just 84 times, completing 36 of them.
Bradshaw leads the team in rush yards as he sits at 64.6 per game and has accumulated 6 touchdowns on the ground.
Expect Army to give Navy a heavy dosage of what they will try to do, with various runs right up the middle, in attempt to wear down the opposing front.
