The Red Wolves broke a 2 game losing streak last time out with a solid 38-14 win over the Texas State Bobcats. This Arkansas State defense was excellent in that last game, but they get a much tough opponent here today as the Warhawks possess a strong offense.
The ULM Warhawks scored a touchdown in the first quarter against Appalachian State, but were subsequently shut down by a very strong Appalachian State defense. They get an easier spot here at home and should be looking to put up way more than 7 points given the high 67.5 over/under.
Arkansas State Red Wolves
The Red Wolves completely dominated the time of possession in that last game and ran the ball for over 200 yards in that one with Marcel Murray getting most of the run.
Freshman QB Layne Hatcher leads this team and he will need to have a big one here if the Red Wolves are to get the big road W as the Warhawks are sure to put up plenty of points here in front of their home fans. Hatcher certainly has shown the ability to lift his team over the line as he already has over 1200 passing yards and 12 TD’s and 6 picks in just the last 4 games.

This defense has not been very good this year, but they were very solid last game against the Bobcats giving up only 14 points. The secondary will be tested most by this Warhawks offense and it remains to be seen whether they are up to the task in this one.
ULM Warhawks
Nobody expected the Warhawks to beat Appalachian State last weekend, but the Warhawks certainly would have been looking for better than a 45 points loss. Nothing worked for them offensively that day and the defense allowed nearly 600 yards of offense.
Surprisingly that was not even this defense’s worst game of the year as they actually allowed 714 yards in week 2 against the cyclones in a 72-20 loss. This has to be the biggest point of worry here for the Warhawks because if they surrender a lead to the Red Wolves they will find themselves in a lot of 2nd and 3rd and long scenarios as I do not trust their running game.

Senior starting quarterback Caleb Evans will be under center here and he has not had the season he would have liked so far. Evans has 1472 passing yards and 10 touchdowns with 5 picks and has also contributed rushing and has a 100+ yard rushing game this season.
He will need to be on top of his game, but does get an easier matchup and should be able to get going here in front of the home fans to give this Warhawks team a good chance at winning this one outright.
