Arkansas jumped out to a strong 3-0 start here in 2022, but things have went left quick. The Hogs opened their season with a strong non-conference victory over Cincinnati, then began SEC play with a 14-point victory over South Carolina. After the smooth start, the Razorbacks dropped their first road game of the season to Texas A&M, then lost star quarterback to injury in the loss to Alabama. His presence was missing against Mississippi State, he returned abruptly for the BYU game last time out.
In Week 7, Arkansas beat BYU, 52-35, improving to 3-4 against the spread this season.

KJ Jefferson’s return made all of the difference last time out, as the Hogs avoided a fourth straight loss behind a big effort from the star QB. The junior quarterback passed for 367 yards and a season-high five scores in he road win over BYU, and he’s going to give Auburn trouble here. Jefferson is such a different maker, and he makes everyone around him better.
Jefferson has thrown for 1,463 passing yards with 14 touchdowns to one interception through six games, while rushing for 344 yards and four scores. He’s got NFL potential.
Raheim Sanders’ second year leap has been astounding. After gaining 499 yards last season, the sophomore back has eclipsed the 110-yard mark in each of the first three games. Sanders set a new career-high versus the Cougars, goign for 175 yards and two scores in Week 7. He leads the SEC with 870 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
There’s been a collective effort to replace former Hog Treylon Burks’ presence at the wideout position. Former OU wideout Jadon Haselwood has been steady, leading the Hogs with 31 receptions and gained 406 receiving yards. Toledo transfer Matt Landers has added 25 catches for 360 yards alongside him.
Auburn Tigers
Auburn’s fall from grace and transition to basketball school hasn’t been a pleasant sight. Non-conference wins over Mercer and San Jose State were sweats, and they were blown out by Penn State at home in their lone Power 5 matchup.
Auburn began SEC play by defeating Mizzou in a battle of Tigers, before dropping a second crop of cats’ contests to LSU. Their first two road trips haven’t gone well, as a trip to Athens resulted in a 30-point loss to Georgia, and they were overpowered in Oxford last time out.
In Week 8, Auburn lost to Ole Miss, 48-34, capitalizing on their underdog spread for the third weekend in a row.
Auburn scores 22.3 points per game, while allowing 28.2 ppg.
Auburn fans should have appreciated Bo Nix while he was enrolled, because the mess at QB has simply been too much to overcome, especially playing in the SEC. An injury to incumbent starter T.J. Finley led to the Tigers throwing true freshman Robby Ashford into the water, and it’s generated underwhelming results.
Ashford has passed for 1,014 yards with four touchdowns to five interceptions, while rushing for 309 yards and three scores.
Tank Bigsby remains a steady force in the run game here in 2022. The 2x 1,000-yard rusher finally got loose last weekend versus Ole Miss, dashing for a season-high 179 yards and two scores. He paces Auburn again with 524 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
Auburn’s mess at quarterback has led to a very run-heavy approach, and no wideout has surpassed the 20-catch mark here in Week 9. Ja’Varrius Johnson is knocking on the door with team leads in receptions (19) and receiving yards (335).

The Hogs are much better than their record, while Auburn looks like they don’t belong in the SEC this season from the offensive standpoint. The Tigers have been able to defend well at home, but it’s very unlikely they’ll be able to keep up with the Razorbacks here.
