Appalachian State has been great this season and are now sitting with a 6-1 record with only a loss to the Marshall Thundering Herd at the start of the season on their record. They get a mighty tough test on Saturday, however, and they will need to really show up to get the job done here.
The Chanticleers are perfect on the season at 7-0 and even have a victory over a ranked team this year in the Ragin’ Cajuns. They are now ranked #15 in the nation, but their coaching staff will need to have kept these guys sharp as last week’s game against the Troy Trojans was postponed.
Appalachian State Mountaineers
The Mountaineers were a bit anemic against the Georgia State Panthers last week, as, although they got the win, it was over a sub-par team who they really should have dealt with significantly easier.
That was their first poor performance since the loss to the Thundering Herd earlier in the year, though, so it might have just been a one time thing, and frankly they will need it to be because if they show up with the same effort as last week they will be soundly beaten by a clinical Chanticleers team.
Junior running back Daetrich Harrington should play a big part in the Mountaineers game plan so long as they can keep this one close and don’t need to abandon the running game, but I don’t really see that happening, so look for Harrington to build upon his 595 yards and 7 TD’s he already has on the season.
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
Going through this game it is really tough to poke holes in the Chanticleers overall as a team, as they have looked pretty perfect in most of their games this year and are coming into this game off the back of 3 blowout wins.
Freshman QB Grayson McCall has also done the job for this team with 1393 yards passing and an incredible 16-1 TD-INT ratio, so without a doubt he is a massive part of their success and I thoroughly expect him to keep things clean here once again and put his team in a position to win.
