Finally, we have a premier Big-12 matchup on our hand for the first time this season as the Texas Longhorns are going to duke it out with the Texas Tech Red Raiders for the battle of the Chancellor’s Spur. The Spur is awarded to the winner of the series and is held at the winner’s campus until the following year.
We can expect a good ole shoot out on our hands as head coaches Tom Herman and Matt wells love the air raid attack.
Texas Longhorns
Texas romped the UTEP Miners in their first game of the year 59-3 and come into this one looking for their second win. Tom Herman is trying to bring Texas back to the college football playoff for the first time since 2009 when they lost the National Championship.
All eyes are on QB Sam Ehlinger this season as he projected to be a first-round pick in the NFL Draft. Ehlinger showed out in his first game completing 25 of 33 passes for 426 yards to go along with five touchdowns all before halftime.

Defensively, we have yet to see what Texas is capable of because they played such a weak offensive team in week one. So far so good though as they have yet to give up a touchdown on the season so far, but don’t expect the same results on Saturday. The Longhorns did struggle in 2019 giving up an average of 27.5 points per game.
Texas Tech Red Raiders
The Red Raiders did not play their best game in their season debut against Houston Baptist. Tech had to pull out the last-minute victory against the Huskies 35-33 thanks to a missed two-point conversion with 3:32 to go in the fourth quarter.
Texas Tech’s offense was hot to start the day in their first game putting up 21 points in the first half. The problem was the defense was giving out yards like a fire sale. Matt Well’s defense gave up 567 passing yards and four touchdowns on the day to one of the worst offenses in college football. If Houston Baptist can put up 567 passing yards I can’t imagine what the Longhorns will do on Saturday.
Alan Bowman didn’t look too bad in his first start after redshirting in his sophomore season. Bowman threw for over 400 yards in the win to go along with two touchdowns and an interception. If the defense is going to give up over 500 yards a game, Bowman is going to have to step it up and put a lot more points on the board.
The Raiders leading rusher SaRodorick Thompson is probable for this game due to a legal matter which a big blow to Tech’s offense. Thompson had over 100 yards in the first game to go with two scores.

Free Week 4 NCAA Football Prediction:
I think the Longhorns blow the doors off Tech here. The Raiders gave up over 550 passing yards to an awful Houston Baptist team, who almost upset them. Sam Ehlinger is making his case for the Heisman Trophy this season and he should be able to put up some numbers in this one. A keynote here to is that both teams are coming off two weeks of rest, so both teams are going to have fresh legs. I’m laying the points with Texas -15.5.
