The #7 ranked Miami Hurricanes will travel to Death Valley to take on the #1 ranked Clemson Tigers on Saturday Night at 7:30. The Tigers are coming off a routing of Virginia 41-23, while Miami obliterated FSU 52-10. Miami has a slight advantage in this game as they have had two weeks to prepare for this matchup because they last played on September 26th.
This game will determine whether or not the Hurricanes are the real deal. Miami hasn’t faced a ranked opponent yet this season and they run into the highest-ranked team in their first game.
Senior transfer QB D’Eriq King has been better than what Manny Diaz could have imagined since coming from Houston. King has shown great poise in the pocket through three games throwing for 736 yards to go along with six touchdowns and zero interceptions. He is also second on the team in rushing with 157 yards and has a rushing TD to his credit.
D’Eriq is great at protecting the football which will be key in this game because you definitely don’t want Trevor Lawerence to have a short field. You can’t have any giveaways in a game like this or Miami will be playing from behind which can be very dangerous.
Defensively, the Hurricanes have been pretty good this season. They have excelled at getting to the quarterback and already have 10 sacks on the year. They are going to have to figure out a way to penetrate that Clemson O-line though and disrupt Trevor Lawerence’s rhythm.
The Tigers will have their first battle test of the season on Saturday with the Hurricanes coming to town. D’Eriq King has the ability to give the Clemson defense some trouble with the potential of him to run and throw the deep ball.
It will be an exciting matchup seeing the best defense in the ACC going up against one of the best quarterbacks in the conference. The Clemson defense is tied for the most sacks in the conference with 13. An interesting note is that the Miami O-Line has allowed the second-most sacks in the ACC so look out for the Clemson front to bottle up D’Eriq King.
Trevor Lawerence is having the best year of his career so far stats wise. Lawerence has completed 55 of 75 passes for 848 yards to go along with seven touchdowns and zero interceptions. After a slow start to his sophomore year, Trevor definitely wanted to start his final season off strong.
Miami has shown a few cracks in the defensive front, which has the potential to lead to Tigers star running back Travis Etienne to wreak havoc. With opposing teams averaging 146.7 rushing yards per game against the Hurricanes defense, Etienne could be in for his most volatile performance so far this season.

Free Week 6 NCAA Football Pick:
I think Clemson is the right pick here as they are going to want to flex their muscles in this game. Clemson has had two relatively easy opponents to start this season and this is their first real test. Dabo is going to have the boys up for this one because this may be the hardest game they have to play all season other than North Carolina. Give me Clemson to cover the -14 and show that they are the best team in the country by a mile.
