The #18 ranked Miami Hurricanes are taking on the #21 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Cheez-It Bowl from Camping World Stadium on Tuesday, December 29th.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
The Oklahoma State Cowboys come into this one off of a very good 7-3 season, but the Cowboys struggled with consistency over the latter part of the year. The Cowboys were one win away from playing the Big-12 Championship but came up just short against TCU in 29-22 after not being able to get any offense going for the first half of that game.
We have seen some shaky QB play out of Mike Gundy’s Cowboys this season. Spencer Sanders is currently the starter but has been benched multiple times due to inconsistent play. He has thrown for 1,702 yards, 10 touchdowns, and eight interceptions on 61.8% passing this year.
Chuba Hubbard leads OK State’s ground attack with 625 yards and five scores but will sit this game out to prepare for the NFL Draft. Dezmon Jackson will fill in as the lead back for this contest. He has 526 rushing yards this year to go along with four touchdowns.
Defensively, Oklahoma State is surrendering 22.4 points per game which is ranked 33rd amongst FBS teams.
Miami Hurricanes
The Hurricanes will try to cap off 2020 with a bowl win. Miami had just two losses this season coming to two top-20 opponents. They suffered losses at Clemson and at home to North Carolina to end their regular season. But the future is looking bright for Manny Diaz and canes heading into 2021 as they received news on Christmas that senior QB D’Eriq King would be back for his sixth season.
D’Eriq King threw for 2,573 yards, 22 touchdowns, and five interceptions on 63.6% passing in his first year at the U. He also rushed for 520 yards and four scores.
Offensively, Miami had the 27th highest-scoring offense in the FBS. They averaged 34.0 points per game on 432.3 total yards from scrimmage per game. Cam’Ron Harris had 591 rushing yards and nine touchdowns to lead Miami in the ground game while Donald Chaney Jr. and Jaylan Washington each had 200+ rushing yards in the regular season.
Mike Harley leads the receiving corps for the Canes with 49 grabs on the year for 730 yards and 6 touchdowns. Brevin Jordan is second on the squad in yards with 480 and second on the team in receiving TDs with 5 TDs.
Miami surrenders 26.0 points per game which is 44th in the FBS in scoring defense. Bubba Bolden led the Hurricanes with 65 total tackles including a team-high 45 solo tackles. Defensive end Jaelan Phillips had a team-high 8 sacks and NFL product Quincy Roche added 4.5 sacks this season.

4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Miami +3 (-125) Buy a .5 point
Oklahoma State is simply missing too many key players that make their offense click. Chubba Hubbard is an All-American running back that will probably be the first one off the board in this year’s draft. If there is one thing that Miami has struggled on defensively it has been stopping the run, so having Hubbard out for this game will be big for the Canes defense. Star wideout Tylan Wallace is also questionable for the Pokies in this game with a knee injury so that’s big for them as well. Give me the Hurricanes to get the victory comfortably and show Miami fans what is to come next year with D’Eriq King returning to the U.
