2018 Football Preview – SEC – Gators
Looking for 2018 Florida Gators predictions? There used to be a time when Florida Gator football wasn’t so dull and lackluster, like back when Urban Meyer used to be the top-dog on campus. Now, with new offensive-minded head coach Dan Mullen in charge, this team should eventually be able to get back to playing exciting football. The defense should be as good as always, but can the offense figure out their QB situation and average more than a measly 22.1 points per game?

Can Dan Mullen and company change that dullness stigma Florida has been carrying with them the last couple of seasons?
2018 Florida Gators Predictions: Team Strengths
Another Solid Defense:
Florida will be returning their stud playmaker David Reese who led the team with 102 tackles last season.
Next to him will be Cece Jefferson who will be playing as an outside rusher in the new style of defense, and this time around he will be healthy and ready to attack some quarterbacks.
The secondary is going to be one of the best in the SEC as it is just oozing with talent that begins with studs CJ Henderson and Marco Wilson.

The safeties consist of hard-hitting and consistent tackling from the likes of second-leading tackler from a year ago Chauncey Gardner and Jeawon Taylor.
Plenty Of Talent To Move Ball Through Air:
Florida is filled with speedy and agile wide receivers, and although none of them truly stand out, they are still a very talented bunch who hasn’t really be able to unleash their trust play-making abilities being part of a slow and muggy offense from last year.
Tyrie Cleveland has a chance to break away from the pack and prove himself to be a legitimate outside threat.
Kadarius Toney and Ole Miss transfer Van Jefferson look to work to be chain movers and get dirty working the middle of the field.
There is the talent, but it really depends if Dan Mullen can properly prepare his QB for this new up-tempo system in which he can get the play makers the ball.
2018 Florida Gators Predictions: Team Weaknesses
QB Stability:
Quarterback play has been the thorn in Florida’s side ever since Tim Tebow left, and you’d think a school with the recruiting pipeline that Florida has that they’d be able to find some consistency.
Dan Mullen and his offensive coordinators have a decision to make on either Feleipe Franks, Kyle Trask, or highly-touted Emory Jones.
Franks is most likely going to get the nod, possessing a big arm and nice QB size, but he needs to work on his footwork and timing.

Not all was his fault last year though because their offensive line was pretty shaggy, and Dan Mullen is equipped with the experience to coach Franks up.
Offensive Line Needs To Be Better:
Last year Florida’s rushing game only averaged 156 yards per game and they had the rushing talent, it is just that the offensive line underperformed all season.
They also made way for giving up 37 sacks, so no wonder Franks had a rough time with footwork and timing.
They’ll have a couple returning linemen such as Martez Ivey and Tyler Jordan, and they won’t be bored to death with the offensive scheme, so we should see improved line production.
Florida Gators Prediction: 9-3
Dan Mullen’s by no mean inherited a dysfunctional team that needed to clean house; the talent is there.
Their schedule is favorable in the early part before having to head to Tennessee, and this may be just enough time to get this offense into a rhythm.

I’m not expecting them to compete for a playoff spot nor a double-digit regular season win total, but there is no reason why this team couldn’t reach the nine-win threshold.
