The Auburn Tigers are traveling to Columbia this weekend to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in Week 7 of the College Football season. The Gamecocks are coming off their first win of the season against Vanderbilt, while Auburn escaped Little Rock with a win after a wild one against the Razorbacks their last time out.
Auburn Tigers
Even though they got the victory their last time out, Auburn struggled against a far inferior opponent last week. The Tigers started off strong and put up 20 points in the first half, but only managed 10 points in the second half. That allowed Arkansas to get right back into the game and take a 28-27 lead with seconds to go in the fourth quarter.
Bo Nix almost blew the entire game after spiking the ball backward with less than 10 seconds left. Luckily for them though, the officials blew the whistle and ruled the play dead. Other than that Nix didn’t have too bad of a game completing 17 of 28 passes to go with a touchdown against the Razorbacks.
Auburn Head Coach Gus Malzahn was asked ahead of the contest, what the Tigers must do if they want to leave Columbia with a win.
“I don’t think we’ve been to South Carolina since 2011 and it’s traditionally a tough place to play. Our guys are going to have to be ready.”

Auburn’s defense has performed below expectations this season as it currently has the sixth-worst third-down defense in the nation. The Tigers allow opponents to convert on 56.3% of their third downs this year, which has been a large reason why Auburn allows 22.7 points per game.
South Carolina Gamecocks
After beating Vanderbilt 41-7 the Gamecocks will look to continue their winning ways by trying to upset Auburn at home. South Carolina played a near-perfect game last week against the Commodores. They outgained Vanderbilt by 239 yards, while also winning the turnover battle by one.
South Carolina is going to need another solid performance out of their offense if they want to keep up with this Tigers team. The Gamecocks score an average of 30.67 points per game which is good for 37th in the country.
Collin Hill has been under center for South Carolina for the first three games of the season. Hill has completed 69 of 110 passes for three touchdowns and one interception this season. He also has three rushing touchdowns as he has proven to be a mobile QB.
Defensively, the Gamecocks have struggled at rushing the passer this season as they only have seven sacks through three games. It’s going to be key for them in this game to get to Bo Nix because once you flush him out of the pocket his passer rating drops dramatically. The only thing though is that Auburn has one of the best offensive lines in the country and allows an average of 2.33 sacks per game.

Free Week 7 NCAA Football Pick
I think the over 51.5 is the play in this game as South Carolina is going to need to force Auburn into a shootout if they want to win the game. The Gamecocks have established they can put some points up on the board as they have the fifth highest-scoring offense in the SEC. Auburn should also have some opportunities to put up some points as the Gamecocks allow a little over 25 points a game. Give me the over 51.5 to hit in a close game with the SEC being the new BIG 12.
