Like Georgia versus Georgia Tech, I don’t really consider this game much of a rivalry either. I mean, sure, they both play in Florida but one team is continually excellent and the other team sort of gets by.
A rivalry game is full of hatred and there’s no real hatred between these two teams. A rivalry game allows a road or home underdog to do some damage and that hasn’t happened as evidenced by these trends:
The Favorite is 7 and 2 against the spread in the last 9 meetings between these two teams.
The Home Team is 10 and 3 against the spread in the last 13 meetings between these two teams.
Throw in this trend and you’ve got the makings of a good old-fashioned whupping:
The Florida Gators are versus a team with a winning record.
The Seminoles are going to get absolutely pummeled in this game. Another trend that I didn’t write above but is as equally important is the fact that the OVER seems to hit when Florida State goes on the road.
That means that the Seminoles give up more points on the road than they do at home. That, of course, plays exactly into the hands of Florida.
Oh, yeah, Seminoles have also been talking trash about Florida quarterback Tim Tebow. I’m no psychologist but talking trash to the only man in college football history to throw for 20 touchdowns and run for 20 touchdowns in a single season might not be the way to go.
I mean, Tim Tebow is a bad-ass and talking smack to him is probably just going to fire him up more. Your defense isn’t good enough to stop Tebow, Florida State, which is why you’re going to get destroyed this Saturday.
