NASCAR Betting – Dodge Dealers 400
By Cappers Picks Staff
The Chase for the Nextel Cup resumes this weekend at Dover International Speedway with the Dodge Dealers 400. Clint Bowyer started The Chase off with his first career win last weekend at New Hampshire. The win moved Bowyer all the way from 12th place to fourth place in the Chase standings.
The Chase leaders heading into the weekend are Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, both tied with 5,210 points, and both are heavy favorites that NASCAR betting fans will have to think about this weekend.
When NASCAR revved its engines at Dover earlier this year at the Autism Speaks 400, Martin Truex Jr. took the checkered flag. That was Truex’s lone win of the season, but it was enough to impress the Top Sportsbooks oddsmakers who set him at +700 odds to win this weekend.
The co-favorites heading into this weekend’s race are Johnson and Tony Stewart at +550 on the NASCAR odds. Johnson has three career wins at Dover, while Stewart has seen the checkers twice before. The drivers with the most career wins at Dover in this weekend’s field are Gordon and veteran Mark Martin, each with four. Gordon, who last won at Dover in 2001, is listed at +600 on the odds, while Martin, who’s still looking for his first win of the season, last won at Dover in 2004 and is a +4000 long shot.
Other drivers not involved in The Chase that could cause trouble for the contenders this weekend include Ryan Newman, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Greg Biffle. Newman has had a lot of success at Dover in the past with three wins on the track, including back-to-back wins in this race in 2003-2004. Junior and Biffle each have one win at Dover, with Junior crossing the finish line first in 2001 and Biffle seeing the checkers in 2005. Newman is currently receiving the best odds out of the trio at +1200, while Junior comes in at +1600 and Biffle is listed at +4500.
The one driver that everyone seems to have forgotten about in the Chase is Jeff Burton. After finishing well back in 18th place last week, Burton dropped four places in the standings to 11th place. Burton is receiving the worst odds out of all drivers in the Chase this weekend at +4500, despite the fact that he won this race at Dover last year.
