Chicago was supposed to be the best team in the NFC. Instead the Dallas Cowboys have assumed the mantle after two dominating victories over the Giants and Dolphins. Can Chicago’s Rex Grossman finally get going, or will his own fans turn on him in this Sunday night NFL betting thriller?
Dallas Offense vs. Chicago Defense
Tony Romo looks incredible right now (with or without Carrie Underwood on his arm). The offense is averaging 261 passing yards, 154 rushing yards and has averaged a 41 points per game. Those numbers are going to be intimidating, even against Chicago’s staunch defense.
The Bears only allow 12 points per game and have held teams to 272 total yards per game. The important thing for Dallas will be giving the ball to Marion Barber III and letting him power his way through this defense.
Chicago may have shutdown LDT but that doesn’t mean Dallas should stop pounding the rock. It will take pressure off of Romo and free up the passing game which will be going up against the Bears without Mike Brown. Terrell Owens has 184 receiving yards and three touchdowns and will find a way to expose the Bears on defense.
Chicago’s defense is incredible, but Dallas’s offense is that good. Tony Romo is a dynamic playmaker and is surrounded by enough talent to move the chains against the stiffest of Bears defenses. He is too cool under pressure to get frustrated when the Bears stiff the offense on a few drives.
Chicago Offense vs. Dallas Defense
If Grossman wants to start playing this year, now would be a good time. The Bears only touchdown was in the hands of an offensive lineman. Cedric Benson looks shaky, and isn’t big enough to move the pile or fast enough to beat people to the edges. This Dallas front seven is nasty, holding teams to just 92.5 rushing yards per game.
But their passing defense has given up 293.5 passing yards per game. That being said, they did cause four turnovers against Trent Green last week. Rex Grossman hasn’t proven that he’s much better then the 37 year-old, post concussion Green. Grossman, however, excels at the deep ball to Bernard Berrian and the Dallas secondary is slow.
Chicago should get past their average of 127.0 yards per game through the air as Dallas will challenge Rex to throw. Chicago’s offensive line will give him time, but Rex still has to prove that he can make those sound decisions and not crumble in front of a crowd ready to crucify him before he nails their NFC Championship chances in to the ground.

This game will crown a rightful heir to the NFC throne. Chicago has an incredible defense but Dallas’s dynamic offense is difficult for any team to cover. And if you feel like you can safely bet on Rex Grossman then, by all means, go right ahead.
But the smart betting investor will ride the momentum of Dallas’s early success. Romo and the boys know that this game is a massive test of how good this offense is. And if the past two weeks are any indication, it’s as good as advertised.
