NCAA Basketball Betting – Cornell at Harvard
BetUS NCAA basketball betting odds: CORNELL -6, Total 146.5
The Cornell Big Red (14-5 SU, 5-4 ATS), which took a few lumps early but has been undefeated thus far in conference play, will take a trip to the Lavietes Pavilion in Cambridge on Friday night as they take on the Harvard Crimson (6-16 SU, 4-8 ATS) in an Ivy league game set to tip off at 7 PM ET.
In the Top Sportsbooks NCAA basketball betting odds, Cornell is a six-point road favorite, with the total posted at 146.5 points.
Here are some of the NCAA basketball betting trends as they relate to this matchup:
* CORN has won its last eight games SU
* CORN has won six of its last seven road games SU
* CORN has played six of its last eight posted games UNDER the total
* HARV has lost its last five games SU
* HARV has won seven of its last nine home games SU
* HARV has won 16 of the last 24 meetings SU
* CORN has covered five of the last six meetings as the visitor
* CORN has won four of the last five meetings SU as the home tam
* The road team is 6-1-1 ATS in the last eight meetings
* CORN has had the shooting edge in four of the last five meetings
* HARV has had the rebounding edge in seven of the last nine meetings
Cornell is the best team in the Ivy League without much question. The Big Red can push the pace (76.5 ppg) and is accurate from the field (48.5%). That’s a tough combination for Ivy opponents to contend with, especially since Cornell is relatively difficult to score on (allowing just 42.5% shooting by foes). They have very good balance, with seven players averaging at least seven points. They feature a sixth man who is a Pac-10 transfer (Collin Robinson) who contributes almost 10 points a game, which is ALSO unusual for the Ivy. On top of that, they hit 42% from beyond the arc, and leading scorer Ryan Whittman sits at nearly 51%.
Meanwhile, could Tommy Amaker find himself fired from another coaching job? Amaker had little success at Michigan, and got bounced out of Ann Arbor, but at Harvard they haven’t made it to the NCAA’s in over 60 years, so perhaps expectations are not that high. But Harvard has lost five in a row and has shown regression from last year’s team, which was 12-16. The Crimson has shot only 41% from the field since Ivy league action began, and has really struggled of late, surrounding a 46% effort against Princeton with 32% against Brown, 40% against Penn and %35 against Dartmouth.
That won’t work here. Cornell hasn’t traveled too badly (6-4 SU, 4-1 ATS). And they take care of the ball a lot better. Harvard’s five conference losses have come by an average of 13.6 ppg.
We’ll lay the points with capable Cornell, the six-point favorite in the Top Sportsbooks NCAA basketball betting odds.
